I got the saw yesterday and spent half my day putting it together. It wasn't hard. Even the riser wasn't hard to do. I assume if you buy this then you are mechanically inclined so you should be fine. Couple washers were missing in the packaging but everything lined up 1st try. The 2 hardest parts were 1 lining up the belt to the motor and bottom blade wheel, and 2 making the little table top line up perfect with the bigger table top where you lay the wood to cut. It's very tight spaces for the motor mount and takes some ingenuity to get a level motor and tight belt. Time consuming to get the 2 table tops to line up. Everything but installing the largest bolt on the riser can be done solo. I have the wheel base too which is great.
I'm very happy and recommend it. It works great. I would assume the problems people had were years ago and the problem was resolved, and some people are in a hurry and don't think ahead as they assemble it.
After 3 days and numerous attempts, by putting a 6x6 block under the motor and inserting shims, I finally got the motor in the right position, then blindly tighten the bolts. WHEW.
I'm up and running now. but it was a struggle.
It's an excellent band saw with excellent features.
I would say it's the best for the money
