Powermatic lathe tailstock swingaway
It’s the best thing I’ve ever purchased. I am a bowl turner and I need to remove the tail stock often and it makes a very heavy lift very easy.

Looking forward to saving my back
Good, simple, compact design. Gets the tailstock fully out of the way of working off the end of the lathe. Spring assist and alignment pin help when swinging the tailstock back into place. Get out the dead blow hammer and straight-edge and take the time to align it properly upon installation.

How much space off the back side of the lathe is needed for the tailstock to swing to down position. the back of my lathe will be up against the wall.

BEST ANSWER: You will need a minimum of 18 inches behind the lathe, as measured
from the foot of the lathe stand.
I have a bed extension mounted in the high position, to give me a longer bed. Will this mount to the end of the bed extension instead? Or does it have to be mounted directly to the bed of the lathe?
Scott on Oct 7, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The manual states it does not interfere with bed extension mounted in lower position
