Purchased for close quarter work
Works well, the attachment to the drive mechanism doesn't seem to get totally tight with the pinch bolt. Found out it's like a van de graff generator in sanding aluminum edges with the static electricity sparking every couple seconds.

Quite disappointing.
I am a fan of Milwaukee tools overall. Much of my equipment is made by Milwaukee. Unfortunately, this band file is not their best effort. The lower plastic platen wore out and came off within the first hour of use (this was a new tool, not reconditioned). The design is such that any lateral pressure shifts the arm and causes the belt to come off. This is such an obvious design flaw that I am astounded Milwaukee overlooked this error. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this piece of equipment to anyone.

Reconditioned Bandfile that appears new.
Excellent tool purchased as a refurbished item. Not so much as a blemish on the tool.

I'm a blacksmith, and I use the band file to shape knife and tomahawk blades, and for general cleanup of rough edges on many different items. It comes in handy for sanding in small areas, as well. The motor actually should run in the opposite direction. When holding the band file normally -- body in right hand, and left hand on the side handle -- the belt on the bottom side is moving away from the user. According to the manual, it should be moving toward the user. It actually works both ways, but control would be better if the direction were reversed. It also takes quite a bit of force to push the idler roller down far enough to install a new belt. Other than that, this is a typical Milwaukee tool -- powerful, reliable, and well-built. I would definitely recommend this one to anyone who needs a good band file.

Great specialized tool.
This is a tool you use sparingly, at first. When you
need it, it is the only tool that will work. We have
found many other uses for it. You will find that it
fills many unusual job scenarios.

Broke after one hour
Broke after an hour. Was using it to polish tight spots in stainless steel, and it fell apart and threw pieces all over the shop. How can I return this thing?
