Q & A :
DO NOT under any circumstances purchase or buy a rebuilt Lithium-ion battery from anyone. Also do not purchase aftermarket Lithium-ion batteries. All Lithium-ion batteries are subject to causing fires if not handled carefully and charged correctly. For example, low quality (cheap brand xxx) Lithium-ion batteries were the cause of recent Hoverboard fires that made national news. I am one of the fire investigators that investigated a Million Dollar house fire in Nashville, TN caused by a Hoverboard. I also investigated two other non-hoverboard Lithium-ion fires the same month. That being said, I own and use several devices that use Lithium-ion batteries. They include Milwaukee M18 REDLITHIUM XC 18V 5.0 AH and M12 REDLITHIUM 2.0 batteries, Dell Lithium-ion computer batteries, drone Lithium-ion batteries, and Hoverboard Lithium-ion batteries manufactured by Samsung. Lithium-ion batteries are great (high power density) if purchased from a major well-known manufacturer and charged only with that manufacturer's Lithium-ion battery charger. The batteries must not be exposed to high heat (summer temperatures inside a vehicle), excessive vibration or blunt force, overcharged or undercharged. Overcharge can result from leaving the battery on the charger too long or using an aftermarket charger with poor voltage regulation. Undercharge can also damage the battery. Undercharge can occur when the the battery sits for several months without being charged. They store best when charged to 2/3 capacity and not letting the battery capacity drop below the last bar of charge. Again, I trust Milwaukee REDLITHIUM batteries. I wear them in my Milwaukee heated jacket and use them in my tools. Only charge Lithium-ion type batteries when you can keep an eye on them and never leave them charging overnight or when you are not at home. It is better to be safe than sorry. Thanks again for the question, I hope this helps.
