Very impressive saw with clever engineering. Perfect for homeowner use or a tree service as you don't need to have it running as you get into position...it's always ready to saw with the pull of the trigger. So far I haven't found anything I would change.
I also have a Stihl rancher 20 inch. The advantage the Milwaukee has is when you need to climb through debris that can trip you. When you have to cut your way into a fall. not having to restart the engine many times or risk falling with a running engine is a time saver. It can cut 12 inch limbs with no problem. I used it with the 6 and 8 AH batteries. I think the 12 Ah would be better.
Bought this saw as a kit with the HD12 battery from cpooutlets. Shipping was silly fast! Today I fell, limbed and bucked three trees 30-40' x 9-11" in my side yard. Using the Fuel saw right out the box and three charged batteries M12, M8 and a M6. The oregon bar and chain blow nice chips, chain speed is slower than a gas saw but the torque is great! It does pump a good amount of bar oil. I can only give this saw four stars because the bucking teeth are on the small side although metal and it over heated the two smaller batteries. At the end of the day it is not a prosaw but it made me smile for hours and I'm glad I spent the money.
I own a lot of M18 tools and have many batteries so I got the "tool only". I found out quickly that you really need the big heavy duty 12Ah battery - I was cutting up a downed tree and completely drained all five of my batteries in short order. I have sense ordered the big battery and it works much better. The saw itself cuts great and it much quieter than a gas saw. Just get the big battery with it.
Very good saw, of course from Milwaukee. Chain seems to be high quality, cut up several small/medium trees and limbs and ate through everything very well. Definitely reccomend the 12.0 battery for this tool.
I use this saw both professionally and personally. Very satisfied with the power and the battery life. I use 12ah batteries. I hesitated for quite awhile to purchase because of its size and weight. I was hoping and continue to hope Milwaukee will come out with chain with a 10 to 12 inch bar. I have been in the landscape maintenance business for 30 years. We offer tree trimming on small to medium size trees, 25 to 30 foot or less. A 10 or 12 inch bar will suffice for 90 percent of the cutting we do. Personally I burn 2 or 3 cords of Hedge every winter. This saw has no problems with cutting Hedge. I'm 56 years old and in good physical condition but after several hours of use this saw gets pretty heavy.
We use this chainsaw for ventilation work on roofs and walls at structure fires. It solves so many logistical problems for us, it has as much if not more power than the chainsaws we had been using without the problems associated with getting a gas saw started while on a roof under tight time constraints. Much safer to store on the truck, and to carry and use on the scene. Durable enough to stand up to use on the fireground.
I’ve used gas, electric corded & finally purchased the BEST! Have been gradually switching over all my power tools to the MILWAUKEE M18 format, and have been very pleased with their exceptional performance! Only made sense to stick to this elevated class of Cordless tools, in choosing the Milwaukee M18 Chainsaw! It’s done everything I expected, so far! I Always buy from CPO! Great Service, FAST & FAIR!
I have used chainsaws for over 45 years. I love this saw it has the right amount of weight, uses off the shelf parts the 20 amp battery will will work all day. I have not cut anything yet that bogged it down or just stoped it. Others I used have done both. Quiet ,simple to use, nice job Milwaukee
It is perfect for use inside the city limits, landscaping, and cleaning up after a storm. It nice to not have to worry about fuel lines and carburetor diaphragms dry rotting while sitting on the shelf. I just put a battery from my drill and some bar oil in it, and away I go.
I got this thing back at Christmas, it came with two 12 amp hr batteries at a very good price. I didn't need it till recently I had a customer have two 100' tall trees fall on her dock an Oak and a Cottonwood. This chain saw made every cut with ease. I really liked that it was low noise and that when you let off trigger it was no longer running. We cut all day and used one a one half battery. We only had to get out the stihl for cutting the trunk which was over 20" Wish they made a bigger one.
I work for a non-profit. Part of my responsibilities are doing lot maintenance, landscaping, and site improvements. I originally purchased this saw for work around my yard, but now will take to work with me. This is better than any gas chainsaw I have had. It is balanced well. I have a 12 amp battery which was only half drained of power after an hour of slicing logs. The logs were up 12” in diameter. I love the variable speed of the saw too.
