yes, I would buy the m12 hackzall again !
Over the past year, I've cut a great deal of emt conduit 1/2" to 2" and I am pleased with this saw. Light weight operates with one hand. An adjustable foot might make this tool better if it doesn't add too much weight.

Milwaukee 2520-21XC M12 FUEL 12V Cordless Hackzall Reciprocating Saw Kit with XC Battery is a go-to tool for smaller tasks and more. I have used it to cut copper, aluminum, steel pipe, etc.; and I have used it for general around the home purposes. I have used good blades which this saw is very happy with. This saw has plenty of power and durability for a 12 Volt saw. It gets into tight places with ease. The shoe is not adjustable and does not pivot, but that has not been a problem since I adjust my cutting approach to fit the situation. I have used this saw "One Handed" style with ease. The Battery, a Lithium Ion Battery", does a lot of work before the need for a recharge. I also have it "Big Brother" the 18 Volt Fuel, and my wife and I use it a lot also for the bigger situations that require more power and provide a sufficient work space. Very easy to carry and store. I do recommend this saw, and its "Big Brother" (18 Volt Fuel, Brushless, with Lithium Ion Battery) for your "go-to" tool box... you will be surprised at how often you will reach for them. Remember to use the Appropriate, "GOOD QUALITY" Blades for the very best results and for the longevity of the equipment...

Replaced my old Hackzall with the "new and improved" version
I am a big fan of the M12 line of tools. I'm a professional remodeler and I converted over to the M12 Milwaukee line a number of years ago. They are quality tools with lots of power and I've added most of the M12 line to my workbag. When I first picked up the hackzall a few years ago I wasn't too impressed at first thinking it would be too light weight but soon found it to an indispensable go to tool. I've used it for just about everything. It quite powerful for its size, easy to control with one handed operation and gets into tight places where a full sized sawzall won't fit.

I've actually burned through two of the model #2420-20 M12 (non-"fuel" model). First one died from too much sheetrock dust clogging it up over time. I found I couldn't be without it so I picked a recon bare tool as a replacement last year. I looked into getting it repaired, but the cost was more than the CPO recon price. I managed to kill off the second one just the other day under a sink cutting off a failed solder joint. It got flooded when I cut through the pipe. Needless to say I was considerably unhappy, but to be fair I was pretty rough (although not abusive) on both of them and I got a lot of use out of them. Cost of doing business I guess. Wish Milwaukee would

After killing off 2 hackzalls it would be time to call it quits and look for a better option. Thought about it, but the darn thing is just too useful and convenient to be without. I opted for the more expensive #2520-21XC "fuel" model. Mfg. states that its more powerful, built to last six times longer with better seals (the Achilles' Heal of #2420-20 M12).Its supposed to be waterproof too. It is a bit beefier, heavier and does have more power. Been using it for a couple of weeks now. Love it. I'll find out if it really last six times longer and let you know.

Great Tool
This is perfect for plumbing and in general, any quick hacksaw action. 12v works just great even though you'd expect you're under buying vs the 18v. The 4.0amp battery makes a huge difference. Absolutely love my tool!!

How much does the saw weigh? Is it the same size as the 18v version?
Giff on Feb 22, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It is pretty light weight it I think around 3lbs without the battery 4 with the 4.0hr extended battery. It's noticeably smaller than the m18 version. I also chose this one after reading nasty reviews of the m18 version and I've become a bit of a fuel brushless odor snob as the m18 does not have brushless. It about 11inches tool only and the motor housing is smaller for fitting in tighter spaces. This was not a replacement for big demo projects requiring a full size sawzall but it has very successfully cut through wood and screws as well as pvc and conduit.
I would highly recommend this if you have smaller cutting project or working in tighter spaces like between floor joists, studs, or under cabinets as its compact and easily controllable with one hand.
