Meets a need I didn't anticipate!
I'd heard of these tools before but figured they were really only of reasonable value to someone working in a trade that requires that you apply lots of caulking, like a guy who installs windows for a living. Or maybe if you own a wooden boat.

I've discovered another category that the Milwaukee marketing people have so far neglected for this tool, and that is DIY guys who have developed arthritis in their hands. I made this discovery a few weeks ago when I went to squeeze the trigger on my trusty hand-powered caulking gun and I let out a "YEOW!" followed by a string of words they won't print here. Maybe they should advertise this tool in the AARP magazine.

It's a very nice caulking gun. I already had the batteries and charger for other tools so I bought the tool only. A neat feature is that when you let off the trigger it automatically "backs off" the plunger a bit, maybe 1/8" so the caulk won't continue to flow after you let off the trigger and make a mess. Even if you have arthritic hands it's easy to use. I'm just an average guy with one house to maintain, but this tool is so easy to use I'm looking for stuff that needs caulking. And it's a lot cheaper than having to hire somebody to do your caulking for you!

There is a learning curve to this tool but it doesn't take all that long.

M12 Caulk gun
Finally had an opportunity to use my M12 Caulk gun this weekend. I use it to caulk the top of a board running the length of a garage (32 ft). Made the job very easy and much easier on the hands. I got the m12 as I'm not using it on the jobsite every day, and I really didn't need the extra cost of the m18. The variable speed is easy to get used to and the let of when releasing the trigger is awesome. Only strange thing to me and it's not a big deal is how freely the cage can rotate on the front. With preasure when caulking not so much, but strange non the less.

This thing actually works, but...
I purchased this to use installing a combined 150' of crown molding in two bedrooms, and then for other DIY homeowner projects as they come along. I chose the 12v instead of the 18v because of my anticipated infrequent use, the lower weight, and the lower costs of the tool and batteries. Initially, this gun is for the adhesive to attach the crown to the wall and ceiling, and for paintable caulk to touch up nail holes and crown joints. The gun lays a great bead along bonding surfaces, and you quickly develop a technique to apply the adhesive fast. Even with the recommended small hole cut in the adhesive tube end, you can lay on a lot of adhesive in short order. There is a speed adjustment dial with 6 number settings and click stops between each number yielding many speed choices. Also, the gun has a variable-speed trigger so adds even more flexibility to the device. My suggestion would be to set the dial at "2" to begin with and vary the speed with your trigger pull until you determine what speed will work best with your specific caulk or adhesive and the ambient temperature, how long your beads will be, and so on.

The 12v battery seems to last a very long time with the adhesive I'm using: four 10-oz tubes and still showing full charge. It also charges in about 30 minutes.

On the downside, this unit is still heavier than a manual caulk gun by far. If you're working overhead, e.g., caulking crown molding, it gets tiresome to hold. If you are used to working with a nail gun overhead, this gun is much lighter and you will have no problem. For work not overhead, the weight is not an issue at all.

CPOMilwaukee handled my order accurately and very quickly...positive experience all around.

Most of my DIY battery tools are DeWalt and Makita, this is my first Milwaukee. I'm impressed so far.

Saved my wrist
This tool saved my wrist which suffers from carpel tunnel issues. First use was 26 tubes of 30 oz crack sealer in a morning. It worked perfectly. I have read other reviews and they commented that it drips when stopped. The machine has sufficient pull back to prevent this in most materials. The dripping can't be prevented especially in material like self leveling material, which will just drip out without any pressure at all. Caulk guns, whether mechcanical or powered can't pull the piston in the tube back, you can only pull the plunger back which this gun does very well. Couldn't be happier. I also bought the 10 oz optional cartridge holder. Doesn't seem that I needed the extra battery or the 18 volt model.

Best out there
I've been using a battery powered Wagner for the last 15 years. They stopped making them. I bought a Dewalt but it was heavy and the flow keeps going when you release the trigger. I first encountered milwaulkee when we had a broken windshield replaced and the tech was using one. I was impressed with it's operation so I purchased one to try out. This thing is light and easy to control. Appears to be well built. I even bought a spare as a backup unit.

Happy elbows!
I am a 50 year old professional plumber who has developed severe tendonitis in both of my elbows.I have to make a lot of Penetration's through the metal roof and siding of the buildings I work in ( vent pipes, furnace exhausts, etc. ) I have to seal the flashings with an extremely thick commercial sealant. In warm weather it's a chore, in cold weather it's nearly impossible to squeeze the trigger on a standard caulk gun. By the time I'm finished, my elbows are on fire! With this mighty little brute I just press the trigger and go! I was a bit apprehensive about spending that much dough on a caulk gun, but after the first use, I realized that this tool is worth every penny! Way to go Milwaukee!
