Milwaukee 2426-20 M12 Lithium-Ion Multi-Tool (Tool Only)

Details
The Milwaukee M12 Cordless Li-Ion Multi-Tool offers versatility, power and control to complete problematic jobsite applications. Ideal for remodelers, flooring contractors, maintenance repair technicians and electricians, the cordless Multi-Tool cuts, grinds, sands and scrapes at odd angles and in areas difficult to work. It’s powered by the M12 REDLITHIUM Battery (sold separately) to deliver up to 25% more runtime than the competition. Use it to make flush or plunge cuts, remove grout, sand and tackle other awkward jobs. The M12 Multi-Tool operates from 5,000 to 20,000 OPM and allows users to match the speed to the application. The all-metal gear case provides added durability, while the over-molded, ergonomic handle offers extra control. With the universal adapter (included), the Multi-Tool is compatible with most competitor accessories for even greater versatility.

The multi-tool is great and the variable speed control allows me to match the speed to the task. It is nice to have a cordless one to allow easier working.

too hot to handle
the thing just overheats and becomes to hot to hold while using. the battery tends to pop off, too. I know this is not a heavy duty multi-tool, but making a one pass cut on trim board should not induce too hot to hold situation.

Could be a good product
The battery doesn't like to stay in. AT ALL. Have to turn off, reinsert battery and start again. If I hold the battery in the tool works great. Need it to hold the battery by itself!

Would be great, if battery stayed in
Works great when it doesn't drop power. Got this as a set with a hackzall. Works great when you hold the battery in, otherwise the batter works its way out and you have to turn off the tool, reinstall the battery, and start working again. This happens constantly with my 4.0 and 6.0 batteries.

This is only a 12V tool so keep that in mind
I purchased this 12 volt to cut down on amount of tools I have to travel on airlines with, any weight savings is a plus when paying for luggage. So I already had a right angle drill and a couple of right angle impact units and this was a logical step to eliminate another battery and charger setup to haul. It's not as good as my Rockwell corded of course, about the same as my Ryobi cordless, maybe a little better build quality, but run time is low, kills batteries fast, Slow start up, it does the job though for all intentional purposes.

Work some times, bad design
Love all of my other m12 & m18 tools. But hate the m12 multi-tool which I've owend for the last 2 years. The battery keeps coming loose and I've had to replace the locking adapter / retain disc multiple times. (Milwalkee has replaced the disk twice without an issue however the disc breaks so often that I keep few in stock (but at $8 bucks a piece, I'm looking for a different tool).

Lightweight and PERFECT for small spaces!
I got this Multi-Tool in a *non-FUEL* 5-piece M12 kit and it was extremely handy while doing window work with trimming wood, sanding, and trimming insulation foam overspray. I absolutely love how light it is with the 1.5A batteries.

Overall run time was superb with the smaller batteries - I can only imagine it'll go forever when paired with a XC 3.0 or 4.0.

An absolute must for anyone looking for a jack-of-all-trades tool in their M12 collection.

24-26-80 and 24-26-20. What's the difference
Paul on Jul 24, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The 2426-80 is reconditioned and the 2426-20 is the same tool but new
Can this be used as an alternative to knife considering the safety aspects? Our company uses knives to cut Lino, thick rubber bushings and a bit of vinyl. So I am planning to create a safer environment.
