Very Impressed- excellent decision
I have only had it a few days and it is much better than my other cordless blowers combined. I would recommend new 5AH batteries and start the blowe on a Lower setting and ramp up to a level the batteries can support. My older batteries will shut off if you you use the max speed immediately. By starting at a lower speed, e.g., 2 or 3 you can then rest where the batteries work best. This blower has about one half the power of my Stihl gas blower without all the fumes. This one is a keeper.

a little expensive but a GREAT performer.
I have two other blowers, different brands, but they can not hold a candle to this MONSTER. I do agree that you should go ahead and get the 5ah batteries, you will be much happiuer with the difference....

This is by far the most amazing tool I have seen.
It can blow almost anything!
The power of the wind coming from it is really hard to describe, even to show in a youtube video.
Amazing that from such a light tool such a strong blow is coming out!

Stroke of Genius
The 36 volt blower matches gas units for power but is easier to ready and use. The stroke of genius is the use of two 18 volt batteries to achieve the 36 volts, allowing us to use batteries from our existing tool set.

As advertised
I bought this as an add on to the makita 18v collection. Since I got this thing my son is the leaf blower wild man. Hope ya'll have a lot of batteries or the 5 hr ones. (lasts about a 1/2 hr if your blowin non stop with 4hr batteries) I really love their products... I'm a carpenter by trade and have gone almost entirely cordless... I have the whole x2 line up excepting the hedge trimmer. I'm waiting on these guys to come up with a router/trimmer and a table saw for their cordless . Oh well someday...

Excellent! Clean, powerful alternative to gas
I was attracted to this product mostly because of my experience with Makita LXT tools although I did have a not so favorable experience with one of their previous 36v (x2) blowers. This one is great and has similar output to that of a large gas blower (on it's highest setting). You will need an arsenal of batteries (and preferrably the 5mAh) as these will suck your 3mAh batteries dry about 7 minutes on high. The machine is very easy to use, comfortable to hold in the hand and fairly lightweight. I like that this blower can also be converted to a vacuum (separate accessory) which I find very useful in flower beds and other tight areas. My only complaint with this product is the location of the air intake. The location is at the rear just under the batteries. The problem is that if you have loose pants or even a low hanging shirt, your clothing will get sucked up against the intake and drown out the suction of the machine. I think it could be improved if the location were at the bottom or perhaps a shroud of some sort were in place to prevent this.

Powerful and easy to use
I put by Stihl gas blower on the street for garbage collection after purchasing this Makita. I recommend getting a couple of dual-battery chargers and 6-10 batteries if you plan to use it for more than a few minutes. So far, I have only used it in Atlanta in Augustd when it was about 95 degrees outside, and a 4 amp battery lasted for about 15 minutes with the blower on its highest setting. I expect the run time to extend as the weather cools and the leaves start to fall. Getting the extra batteries is an investment, but this blower is powerful enough and it starts instantly. There are no gas cans, oil bottles, carburetors, or starting problems. You will spend time blowing leaves versus cussing while endlessly pulling a starter cord. Makita produces many tools that run off of their batteries including an excellent LED light. I also own their small vacuum, trimmer and various saws which work quite well. I recommend these products without reservation.
