Life Changing Tool
I had to build 8 cabinets in 2 weeks. Being retired and no longer having my cabinet shop, my sliding table saw and being older, cutting up 3/4" prefinished birch plywood is a challenge. Enter the Makita Track Saw... piece of cake! Perfect cuts every time. If your building furniture and cabinets and working alone, you need this saw.

Can't tell the difference
I recently borrowed a neighbors (a pro also) Festool Track saw right before my Makita Track saw arrived. And to tell you the truth.....the only difference I can tell, is not having the auto-vac system that he had. Great tool, i couldn't tell the difference in the performance.

The only thing I recommend is if you don't splurge to get the long track and get 2 of 55" like I did, is get 2 of the rail connectors to create the long track. One just isn't enough. Now I'm also going to buy another 55" track to have both the long and short tracks. Much easier then taking it apart to make shorter cuts.

Great Saw!
you buy one of these and you won't need a Uni Saw or Panel Saw! This is so easy to use and makes straight cuts with NO splinters!! You can run your finger down the cut line after and not pick up one splinter, smooth cuts!!

Love this saw, best tool in my collection

Great buy! Shipping was fast and tool works great. Half the price of other brands with features that are similar if not better than the rest. With the Makita name you know it will last a long time. I've used Makita for years and every tool never fails to impress!

Awesome, much quieter then expected and very little dust. I was afraid that you would need the clamps but I have not needed them yet as the track sticks to the board. Only thing I would change is to have a detachable power chord.

Very well built and thought out. Would have preferred imperial measurements, but I Pac to glue a metric conversion chart on the saw to get by.

Great saw. Purchased for a job requiring custom ripped jam extensions on 74 windows. Saved a lot of time and produced a high quality finish.

Will this make a straight enough cut to join two boards together without the use of a jointer. I am looking for a great seam
Travis on Mar 14, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I would say not recommended but possible in theory. I love this saw but use it primarily for sheet goods. The cut is incredibly clean and straight but there are other factors to consider with your application. First your boards need to be wide enough for the guide to sit properly. Secondly lumber is not only crowned but usually cupped as well which will affect the performance of the guide depending on the severity. Your boards would need to be fully dressed clean with a planer to have a chance at getting a good cut. I have a jointer and planer so the track saw is not my option to accomplish this task so I have never tried

Once you have made a miter cut, does this affect the splinter guard when you go back and make a 90 degree cut? In other words will the splinter guard still make splinter free flush cuts or will the splinter guard be cut at an angle making it not sit flat against the wood?
Javier on Mar 21, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It does not affect the splinter guard after a cut.
