Cons
Not Durable
Terrible Packaging
This looks to be a great compressor, however I had 2 shipments and both came damaged. The first time, the package looked great but the plastic housing was busted and the unit was covered in oil. I am assuming it was slammed on one of its ends which offers little protection. The second time, there was no damage to the housing, but the oil was all over the inside of the plastic it was packaged it. Again probably broken being slammed down. This is an issue with the packaging from Makita mostly. I have seen recent reviews that show that Makita is now double boxing this unit to avoid damage. Two deliveries, two busted units, and now I search for another compressor.

Great compressor
I've run my construction jobs with this compressor for 15 years. Have two and one retired. Quietest. Does what I need.

QUIET! FAST!
This compressor is quiet! The break-in instructions called for running, with the drain fully open, for 20 minutes. I modified that by, after 5 minutes, closing the drain and allowing a little pressure (40lbs) to build and then reopening the drain valve. I continued this pattern every few minutes, allowing a little more pressure each time, until ultimately allowing the compressor to reach full pressure after 20 plus minutes of continuous running. It now will run from 0 to shut-off in barely a minute. FAST! My first use was to fill a medium size tractor tire. I'm delighted with the performance! No more failed, noisy, oil-less compressors for me. I'm confident this one will last a good long time.

Quiet Excellence
Fairly light, carrying handle protects most of the fragile bits. Packaging is double boxed so damage is highly unlikely. Works great, but the best feature by far is how quiet it runs. Also, won't walk around the room like some compressors.

Another Satisfied Makita MAC700 2.0 HP Consumer
The MAC700 was both quiet and filled-up/compressed within 60 seconds, as advertised. Instructions were clear re filling with oil, and running it open for 20 seconds before the initial use. It was very easy to order it on-line. And, without paying any special expediting fee, it arrived within 48 hours. And, I caught it on promotion at a terrific value. I do wish it were either lighter, or, came with a two-wheel/handle combo to make it easier to transport. I'm no 90 lb weakling, but did find it heavier than I had hoped. I'm still glad to have purchased it though.

Great little compressor
Takes up very little space in my garage, it’s quiet, air builds up really fast. It won’t run an impact wrench for long. I really like this compressor.

Nice unit.
Love it. Super quiet compared to my old ones and like the quick recovery. Using a slave tank with it so works well with impact wrench...more capacity.

will it run an impact gun requiring a 80 gallon compessor?
questioner on Oct 23, 2012
BEST ANSWER: Hi, yes, as long as the CFM specifications match up, it will run an impact gun requiring an 80 gallon compressor storage tank, but it will need to run the compressor after only a moment or two of using the impact gun in order to provide it with the amount of air it needs.
In other words, you'll need to wait between uses of the impact gun quite frequently.
will this work with a framing nailer
Jack of all trades on Nov 6, 2013
BEST ANSWER: I have fired cases of framing nails with this compressor. The only time it might lag is nailing a bunch of subfloor fast and that is no big deal, just wait 10 seconds and go back to it. This is an awesome compressor.
What type of oil to use?
Tim E on May 29, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The oil is provided with the compressor
