Makita - EB5300WH 52.5 cc MM4 - 4Stroke Engine - Hip Throttle Backpack Blower
Assembly was easy. The hip throttle is well designed and built and already hooked up and ready to go. They give you a Makita branded nylon bag with some assembly and maintenance tools and an oiling bottle. The tube extensions are garbage. Cheap and flimsy blow molding. No glass fiber reinforcement, and the material likely nylon. They designed the connection method very poorly, it is a simple push-hook-and-twist. however, the grooves are too shallow to allow for a proper fit and the internal locking tab will not snap into its correct place and fit flush. This allows for air to escape the tube weakening its performance power. The machine does not come with the required oil. They recommend their own Makita brand oil and say automotive 10W40 is acceptable, no big deal, but it would have been nice to have the Makita brand oil to go with the machine. Fuel requirements are 87 octanes with 10% allowable ethanol mix. Overall I am happy with what I paid for, with that being said, if you can afford it, buy the biggest model. I think the tube assembly may be a culprit but I was hoping for a little more power. The machine fired right up on the second pull and moved a pile of wet frost packed oak leaves about 6 inches thick 10 feet across the yard while at full throttle from point-blank range. I am spoiled from using top notch tuned up custom blowers that would move the same pile 30 feet. For me, the hip throttle and the 4 stroke engine were the selling points, along with the price I found it for on Tyler Tools. Overnight shipping was worth it and right on time. At my door at 10:30 am EST from Georgia to the west side of the Mitten State. A+ for Tyler Tools 5 Stars. SOrry Makita, you only got 4. Make a better tube and give me some free oil :P
