Hitachi Koki Company began in 1948 manufacturing coal mining equipment and electric power tools. They quickly built a reputation for quality with the success of their air powered framing nailer and electric sliding compound miter saw after Hitachi Power Tools U.S.A. was founded in 1980. By 1985, Hitachi Power Tools had produced over 30 million power tool units.
As part of the Hitachi Group, Hitachi Power Tools has access to industry leading technologies. As a result Hitachi has been dedicated to research and development, leading to many product firsts for the company including a sliding compound miter saw, cordless impact driver and cordless screw driver, air-powered concrete nailer, metal stud cutter, portable rebar cutter and the use of rare earth magnets in cordless tool motors. Some technologies utilized by Hitachi include brushless motors, Lithium-Ion battery power, Internal Double Insulation housing for reducing vibration and increasing tool life and the use of 3D-CAD design simulation for digitally engineering, testing and improving tools.
Today, Hitachi is a world leader in metal casting and plastics technology and manufactures more than 1,000 models of electric power tools ranging from masonry, metal working, woodworking and more as well as a full line of power outdoor equipment.
