Designed to fit your hand with a low profile.
Most jigsaws have a hard time staying on course. Hard materials and curves can easily cause the blade to deflect, resulting in time consuming re-cutting or sanding. Trion jigsaws are designed with adjustable carbide-tipped jaws that work with the blade clamping system and back-up bearing for triple blade guidance that keeps the blade perpendicular to the shot at all times, even on curves.
  • Barrel Grip design provides a high level of comfort and control with minimal user fatigue
  • Multi-Material Control (MMC) electronics provide soft-start and step-less variable speed control while maintaining constant load speeds and providing thermal/overload protection
  • Four stroke settings vary from straight plunge action for smoother cuts, to aggressive orbital action for rapid cuts
  • Carbide guidance system supports the blade at the exact pre-set angle, reducing blade wander and eliminating cut errors
  • Zero Clearance splinter guards mount in the foot of the tool, resulting in ultra-clean cuts
  • Non-marring plastic sub-base allows work on finished material without concern for damage or marking
  • FastFix blade change system offers quick tool-free blade changes, reducing downtime while providing easy and safe blade removal
  • 45 degree dual bevel for angled cuts and 0 degree detent for perpendicular cuts
  • Dual-port dust extractor and chip deflector provide a cleaner work area
  • Plug-It interchangeable power cord fits various Festool tools for quick and easy tool changes

Love the grip of this tool. Feels like it's meant to fit your hand, especially the front top handrest. Scroll cutting or following a straight line through 1" thick material or thinner is a breeze. Does exactly what you intend it to do.

I bought this saw with the intention of doing some sweeping scroll cuts in some 4x cedar and since they tout their extra long blade for cutting curves I figured its a home run. Actually, I'll give it a triple. Does it perform well: Yes. As well as it was described: No. Like any blade, the longer it gets the more chance you have of deflection. I had to do some sanding to even things out but not a great deal, but to say that this tool does not experience at least some deflection is incorrect.

Don't get me wrong, I still love it. In fact, my Bosch now has my Collin's Coping Foot installed permanently on it because I always reach for the Trion when I need a jigsaw.

Good jigsaw
Very good smooth cuts. A little bit of walking of the blade. View is tough with dust shrowd on. Power is there. Comfort and accuracy is there. Definately a very good jig saw. I do think that festool can do better.

Decent jigsaw
Not having used the new carvex models, I bought this saw because I was already invested in the Festool system. I usually buy Bosch blades which cut great due to availability immediately from the hardware store. Another reviewer mentioned having difficulty seeing the cut line with the plastic dust shroud attached and this is true, I can't use it at all. So this sacrifices a bit of the collection power, but at least the cut is visible.
My other complaint would be changing the angle of the baseplate, I needed to cut 45 degree angles with the jigsaw and there are no set stops here. Upon tightening the one screw down to lock the baseplate, the angle has a tendency to change on you.
Other than that, a decent saw especially at the reduced prices now.

Great jigsaw!
This is a great jigsaw and far better than my bosch. It does take time to get use to but make no mistake it is a great jigsaw. Now if FESTOOL would only hurry up on the carvex. Now that is a jigsaw to reckon with.

Clean Cuts with Confident Feel
I traded in my BOSCH jigsaw for this tool. In doing so I wanted to experience a barrel handled jigsaw, which I've come to prefer. I give this tool 5-stars despite a single improvement that could take place: a variable speed trigger of some sort. It would be helpful to be able to control blade speed this way rather than as a set speed selection. In any case, the cuts are amazing! Smoooooooth. And it works well enough with my MINI dust collection system so that I'm happy using it inside, when required. Blade selection is robust, blades are well-made, perhaps the best going. It's a fantastic tool with a comfortable heft that inspires confidence in the tool. Lifelong tool.

I have to admit that I do not have many hours of use with this tool yet, and my impression may change over time. As impressed as I am with all other Festools that I own, I'm shocked and dismayed to say that I find this tool to be extremely mediocre. Literature touts the blade guidance system on this tool, but I've yet to be impressed with the perpendicularity of a cut with this tool, and find it to be comparable, or perhaps even worse than the performance of my Bosch jigsaw that this purchase replaced.

In addition, I find it very hard to follow a line when the clear plastic dust shroud is in place. The indicator arrow on the front of the saw's foot plate is a bit big and clunky to really feel accurate. However, when the plastic shroud is removed so I can watch the blade, dust collection is greatly diminished, to the point where accumulating saw dust obscures the line of cut.

This saw feels really good in the hand, and the variable speed is nice, but otherwise it leaves a bit to be desired, especially at this price. Having it to do over again, I would probably buy the top of the line Bosch. Perhaps they will have addressed some of these issues with the upcoming Carvex model.
