Reset button had to be replaced within first week. That meant buying another reset button, taking the machine all apart, re-wiring it, and putting it together. I like the compressor just fine but do not like to have a NEW tool and have to work on them!!!! Put a heavier reset button on them. Make them so they will last a week or two!!!!!!!

i don't think that it was worth getting recon on this item because it was not in its original packing so it got kinda beat up in transit. i am keeping it but i had to do some repair and straitening of bent and broken parts. makita sent a new part but it was slow arriving.

Good Compressor / Fair Value
I bought this compressor specifically to use in tandem with a Hobart Plasma Cutter.
The minimum requirements of the plasma cutter are 4.5cfm recovery @ 90psi. Most jobsite compressors only recover at between 3.2 and 4.2cfm. Due to the size of the piston the Makita recovers @ 6.5cfm @ 90psi.I needed it to be portable enough for one man to unload and carry. I already have three small jobsite compressors and a very large 80gal unit in my shop but none of them were suitable for using with the cutter in the field. I used it all day yesterday and it performed flawlessly.
My only complaint is the wheels were bent in shipping but one phone call to CPO straighten that out. My new wheels arrived in about three days.
For the record, I have been a professional contractor in the Atlanta area for 35 years. I never buy cheap tools because "Good tools ain't cheap and cheap tools ain't good!"

Makita MAC5200 3.0hp 5.2 gal R air compressor
Great compressor. Powerful, like design and functionality. Built in dolly a must at 102 lbs. Packaging was poor, oil leaked in carton, no padding, axle on dolly bent and wheel bent. Had to take to service center upon opening for repair. Service center excellent. Tyler Tool needs to follow up on quality control shipping.

Nice but ...
I bought this to run some of my small air tools. etc. die grinders, handy sander. It can't keep up. It specs say 5.0 but comes up short. Had no problems with it, but then it became a pricey tire pump.

Very nice and powerful unit for a portable compressor!
Very nice unit, it really does a great job. My only complaint is that the air pressure regulator never has worked, it won't cut back the air pressure.

MAC5200 compressor
I'am very pleased with this unit. I received this extremely fast by ups, and actually used it the following day. Ran it through its break-in procedure. It works perfectly, has a few scratches (no big deal)
This is by far the best compact and portable compressor that I have ever had..

Best Value for $
This is my second MAC5200 compressor, because they are excellent. If you compare the output, horsepower, and overall performance stats, this compressor is the best bang for the buck for a portable compressor. I can load it in my truck by myself, don't have to wear earplugs when it runs, and it always keeps up with my projects' demands. The wheels are metal, not cheap plastic like most are, and the storage compartment on top is handy for fittings/oil/ etc. There is a foam liner insider so the parts won't rattle when compressor is running. Excellent machine. I will buy it all over again when i burn this one up.

Makes me feel like a pro!
I'm sandblasting an antique car, and I burned out two consumer-type compressors before deciding that I needed a tougher professional unit. The specs on this compressor meet the requirements for blasting. It has a cast iron cylinder rather than aluminum, so it can run continuously without burning up. The recycle time is short, so I waste less time waiting for the compressor to refill.

This unit gives me the durability I need for blasting at a reasonable cost. I should have bought one of these in the first place instead of trying to save money by purchasing the two cheaper ones I burned up. In the long run, they ended up costing more than this one.

On the down side, this unit was not packaged very well for shipment. It was in a flimsy cardboard box with no packing material at all. The box was literally falling apart when I received it. I had to help the UPS guy unload it from his truck. Luckily, the compressor was not damaged and no parts were missing. Makita can do better than this.

Yeah, it's heavy, but it comes on its own dolly. Yeah, it's loud, but no louder than the cheapie compressors I had before. I wear ear plugs. Problem solved.

powered my framing and roofing nailers just fine
powered my framing and roofing nailers just fine. I checked "heavy" in cons only because I'm not a big guy and it is heavy enough to be a little cumbersome. That said, this thing is built like a freakin tank. almost entirely metal construction. so I'm ok with the weight. I fired it up to 140 psi, let it set for 2 weeks, and it never lost a pound of air. It was factory recon and it looked and performed like new.
