Dewalt DW0150 1-1/2 in. Stud Finder Dewalt
Product Features & specs :
Dewalt DW0150 1-1/2 in. Stud Finder
This center detect Stud Finder has a detection depth of 1-1/2 in. for wood and metal. Traditional stud sensors locate the edge of the stud, but our new product locates the center for a more efficient read, even when held at an angle. Plus, it is constantly calibrating to save time during use. An audible alert and directional LED arrows clearly notify you once the stud is located, and you can easily mark the center of the stud with the center marking channel.
Center-find technology to easily find the center of the stud, even when held at an angle
Detection depth of 1-1/2 in. for wood and metal
AC and live wire detection for added safety
Constant auto-calibration to save time during use
Center marking channel for added convenience
Slim profile for easy use and storage
Audible alert for clear notification of stud location
Directional LED arrows for visual guidance to stud location
I like the thickness of this stud finder it’s slimmer than most, do not like the width of the device I feel it is to big, the way that is only seams to pick up a/c wires in the wall is if the circuit is hot, I think think is a downfall
Actual comparison with my previous unit showed more accurate readings with this new Dewalt stud finder and the built in voltage detection is a great safety feature which has already proved itself useful.
The ability to find the center of a stud is unique and very helpful. The self-calibration is great; all the other electronic stud finders I've used will lose calibration as you slide them over a textured wall.
The AC detection doesn't seem very reliable; sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes I can run it all the way around an electrical outlet and never sense its live feed wire. I'm guessing that it depends on exactly where on the stud the wire is stapled. I recommend it on the basis of stud-finding.
I got this about two weeks ago and I've used it more than any of my other studfinders. To be able to pick up a stud and electrical wiring behind drywall is awesome. It has claimed it's spot in the toolbox.
I started using the stud finder on known walls. Places that I had open and knew what was there. I got a lot of false readings. Studs where there were no studs. I placed the device directly over live wiring and sometimes it would buzz and sometimes it wouldn’t. Not sure if this one is defective or not. When I did get it to work right the center finder was very nice. I was able to find the center of 2x4’s and even 4x4’s.
I really like the slim design of the product, it's so thin I can easily carry it in my back pocket. Stud reading seems to be accurate so far. Also appreciate the small hole in the center for marking studs.
The stud finder is easy to use. It marks the location of the stud even if your going slated. I am glad to find the stud right away without making many holes. It is light weight, yellow and has an pen mark hole to leave your mark. It has a beeper and laser light that informs you where the stud is. A very handy tool for any handyman.
I received this a week ago and I have been using it on old plaster walls. It has worked perfectly, the AC feature has worked perfectly also. It is very easy to use. I ordered the 1.5” model because I primarily will use it in old homes. As usual with Dewalt it never lets you down.
I Purchased the Dewalt stud finder about a month ago and it has really come in handy . It is easy to use and the multi features really make it one of a kinda. One of the best I’ve seen or used would defenently recommend it to anyone looking for a great stud finder.
I'm a handyman and stud finder is very useful tool in my bag. All studfinders I used before had problems. Some of them were very expensive another one didn't work properly. New DeWalt stud finder DW0150 came just in time when my previous stud finder (Zircon HD800 stops working. DW0150 works perfect, uses 2 AAA batteries (it's convinient for everyday use), is pretty small and thin. I recomend this product for using by handymen, DIY and homeowners.
Nowadays we expect things to work and then it comes down to reliability and design. I really like the design of this stud finder. The slim design means it slides easily in my toolbox/bag and the switch doesn't get pressed, unlike some others.
The tool finds the center of the stud really well, which is a useful feature over the standard way of finding each edge. Arrows indicate the start of the edge and then the center. A/C detection worked well in each case I tried
Changing the batteries is an easy flip up of the cover, no tools required - just the two AAAs.
Overall I think this is an excellent stud finder, recommended.
I have used this items many times to locate wall studs for hanging shelves and pictures. I love the stud center locating feature as you know you are placing the screw in the middle of the stud. Great benefit when handing heavy items. The AC detector is great bonus feature as you do not always know where the wiring in a house is routed until you nail or screw into it. Would recommend using this at eye level to clearly see when the lights come on and off. Wish I had this tool years ago!!
This Dewalt DW150 stud finder is a great tool. It is shaped differently than other stud finders I have used. It is much flatter and wider than others. I guess it is shaped like that to give it a larger sensing surface to detect the studs. It has some nice features that are not on other stud finders. It has automatic constant calibration which is nice. Other stud finders require the user to place the tool on an area of the wall that does not have a stud and press a button to calibrate it before using it. This tool automatically calibrates the tool regardless of where you start on the wall. Another nice feature is the live AC wire detection. The tool will beep and light an indicator when it detects a live wire in the wall. This works well and the live wire indicator does not turn off until you release the button. I suppose this is a safety feature. It has indicators that show the edge and center of the studs. I also like the hole in the center of the finder that you can use to mark the wall on the stud center. Overall, I really like this stud finder. It has some new features that are great and does an excellent job at locating studs in a wall.
This stud finder is easy to use and works great with modern drywall, the older drywall made in the late 60's to early 70's gives it a tougher time. The one thing that I noticed about the stud finder is it is very sensitive about power detection which is good, and the target area gives you a nice spot to mark the stud.
Over all it is a good product and does a good job at finding the stud and power behind the wall.
Hands down, the best stud finder I have ever used. The included non contact voltage detector is very useful and an extra line of defense before accidentally coming in contact with live electrical current. The stud finder is great because it guides you left or right to find the center of the stud. This helps to prevent improperly placed screws and nails. Absolutely great stud finder. Thanks DeWalt for another great product!!
It's easy to use. Very simple lights that indicate when you're too far left or right of a stud. The flat and wide design makes it stable so when you're sliding across the wall quickly, it's easy to keep it flat.
For quite a few years have been using a Franklin Sensors professional stud finder. Was always very happy with the performance because it was very accurate and easy to use. Tried out the new Dewalt 1 1/2 depth stud detector and was pleased with how easy and accurate it was to use. A big plus for the Dewalt was the AC and live wire detection. A great idea that works well! The only small downside of the Dewalt was said it was made in China while the Franklin Sensors said it was assembled in the USA. All in all loved the Dewalt
My old stud finder quit working so I got the Dewalt Stud Finder. The Dewalt Stud Finder is accurate and reliable. It is very simple to use. As you move the stud finder across the wall, an arrow will light up showing which direction to move to find the stud. Then when the center light lights up, you are directly over the center of the stud. It also has an AC Live wire finder. As you are moving the stud finder across the wall, if it see an AC Live Wire, it will beep and an indicating light will light up showing the live wire. This is useful if you plan to hang something like a picture between studs, you want to know if there is a live wire inside the wall. This Dewalt model will detect studs to 1 1/2 inches, so it should work on almost every wall. This seems to be of high quality and built to last a long time.
