I have bought about 10 Dewalt tools over the past two months and this chainsaw is the only tool I wish I didn't buy. I was hoping this would help me remove small (thinner) trees and stumps but all it did was eat batteries. I couldn't make it through 30 minutes before the battery (6AH) would die. Also the blade wasn't as sharp as I was hoping. I bought this thinking it would be cost effective instead of renting one from Home Depot but I over paid on a toll that I won't use again. I was resulted to buying replacement blades for my reciprocating saw to complete the yard work.
Bought this saw for my dad who is 92. Light enough for him to cut firewood. He couldn’t start his gas saw, so this was a perfect fit. Plenty of power to cut for a long time. Bought extra batteries so he could keep going until he gets tired out.
I bought this last year. I wanted a good chainsaw for a long time but didn't want the upkeep of yet another small engine. This chainsaw is perfect for me. It is light, easy to use, quiet, powerful and gets the job done.
I bought this saw a last year for smaller jobs around the farm, times I did not want to get out the big gas powered saw. Well since I have bought it I have not got the gas powered saw out of its case. I have even bought the 18 inch bar for the saw. Love it, wish I had this thing 20 years ago. I would say the only gripe I have with it is that sometimes it leaks a little oil
I have owned this saw about 8 months and have mostly sawed branches up to 10" dia. or so. It saws well and I like the simplicity of not having gas/oil mix, spark plug, etc. Only problem is the oil leaks all over so you have to put paper down under it in the garage to protect the floor. Partly for this reason it would also be nice if it came with a case. It goes through a lot of oil due to the leakage problem. I may have to contact the company if I can't fix this problem.
Light weight with enough power to take care of the tree trimming. For that quick tree trimming without the smell of gasoline this is a nice tool. Battery lasts a while if you use it right. Don't forget to check the oil once in a while.
I have cut down several trees 2'+ in diameter with absolutely no problem. Only recommendation I have is make sure you have 2 batteries so one can be charging while you're using the other. A 6ah battery will last approximately 15-20 mins of continuous strenuous cutting which is pretty good in my opinion. I would opt for the 12ah if you're using it constantly on a regular basis. I would give it 6 stars if I could!!!
I just used this saw to take down and cut up 3 trees in my backyard. It worked flawlessly and outperformed by buddy's gas saw. Cut through 14" limbs like a knife thru butter. It still had a charge in my battery when I was done.
As a woodworker this saw is perfect. All the power and none of the maintenance of a gas saw. I only use my saw a couple times a week and it was a pain to maintain and store my gas saw and accessories. And the power is perfect. I can cut large hardwood logs with ease
I purchased this product a little over a year ago, and I am so happy I made this purchase. I've used it for so many tasks around the yard cleaning up fallen tree limbs to removing un--needed trees to clear paths. It has surpassed my expectations. The battery lasts about as long as I do
I bought this after being a Stihl chainsaw user for a long time. I wanted to have a light duty chainsaw that I could run without ear protection around the house. The Flexvolt chainsaw has proved to be every bit as handy and rugged as my favorite Stihl Farm Boss chainsaw. The ability to just pick it up and use it without having to start it or leave it running is a game changer. The Oregon bar and chain cuts extremely well and a 9.0ah battery will last me multiple days of brush and light tree work.
I was skeptical about a cordless electric chainsaw but the Dewalt Flexvolt Chainsaw has made me a believer.
I am very happy with this product, it has handled anything i have wanted to cut up. The saw has a lot more power than I thought it would. Came with a 16" bar bent that so I bought the 18" bar to replace it and I can not tell the that it has lost any power running the bigger bar. The only problem I have with it is that I have a little trouble with the bar oil tank cap, but I do have a problem with a hand.
The saw works well for tough positions. A lot easier than using a gas powered chainsaw. Its light but will rip through 12" logs quick. Make sure you've got a couple big batteries if you plan on using it for extended periods.
I’ve never had my chainsaw for several months and I have used it extensively it cuts as good as my gas one and it’s so much easier to carry around I can carry two batteries with me and do a full days worth of cleanup around my cabin
I purchased this DeWalt Flexvolt Chainsaw 60V. Do not purchase this Chainsaw because you can not get a replacement chain for this saw. I have been to 3 different stores that sell DeWalt products, an none of them have a replacement chain. One said they have order chains for this saw, but have not been able to get any. This a great saw but if you can't get a replacement chain it of no value.
I bought this saw about a month ago and i love it. I have used it to xut through a 14 inch tree trunk and it did great. I find that the battery holds up well and i can run the saw for over an hr on the 9 amp hr battery. The instant power and the auick stop of the chain when you release is great. The downfall i see is the safety. It is an akward position if you want to use the saw in anything besides the standard position. Also i have had the bar tightener loosen up when using it.
As a first responder I needed something to help clear roadway for other rescue crews quickly. I’ve cut through a telephone pole and two oak trees with no issues. Thankfully it’s something I can stow in my patrol car without carrying a large gas can around. I already own many already reliable DeWalt products and having batteries which I can interchange is amazing. This is a must have especially as the storm season approaches.
I've had this saw for about a year and use it for odd jobs, it does an excellent job. Power is very good and I've had no problems. I wouldn't use it for heavy timber, I don't think it's designed for that but for trimming and limbing as well as posts and such it's my go-to tool.
Bought this about two months ago at a tool show and cut a couple trees down about 10” in diameter then cut up for firewood. Battery last around 45 mins to an hour I’d guess as I like to take breaks in between.
I use this tool all the time from on the job site to around the house. It worked great for the first couple months, then I noticed my oil reservoir wasn't going through any oil. I brought it to the Dewal repair shop in Anchorage, but that didn't seem to fix the issue. As a result my bar is showing a little more wear. Not a big deal. The tool is still preforming with out a hiccup. My 9ah battery that came with it stopped taking a charge. The dewalt store said they would send me a new one free of charge. Still waiting patiently.
I've had this one for a year or so and I use it on the farm all the time. The bar and chain that it came with were fine, but I put a slightly heavier 16" Oregon bar and chain on mine and it cuts even better. Couldn't be easier to use. I like the tool less chain tensioner, but I find that I have to keep an eye on the bar tightener. It tends to vibrate loose. No big deal, but it would be nice if it didn't do that
Bought this chainsaw a few months ago and it has been meeting my demands everytime. The chainsaws battery life cant keep up with a gas powered chainsaw but I have multiple batteries and chargers so I can work non stop with it. I'd say it gets about 20 or so cuts on a 12 inch log per charge on 6 amp hr battery depending on sharpness of the chain. Its definately useful when only needing to make a few cuts instead of using a gas one that needs to be warmed up before use.
Only downside of this chainsaw is that you need to empty the bar oil after each use otherwise what's left in it slowly leaks out.
Overall great product for those not using chainsaw full time and dont like dealing with mixed fuel gas ones.
