Maybe I expect too much, but the bag makes only a slight difference. It does end the dust coming out the vac chute, but the dust blowing out the front, back, and underneath still requires cleanup after a couple cuts, which is what I was trying to eliminate. I love Bosch, especially the 4100. This is the only negative I've experienced.
Upon arrival not too impressed by the quality of the dust collector, but figured why not give it a chance? I install kitchens and often I have to cut inside the house of my clients. I installed the bag and went about installing the kitchen. i forgot all about the dust collector until time for clean up, I went to get a broom and couldn't believe that the bag had contained almost all the sawdust. This thing really works well.
I have the product in the bag. I would use it for field work only. I do a lot of work in my basement work shop and the shop vac I use is barely adequate to maintain the saw dust. The Shop Vac has a Vacuum and is motorized. The bag just connects to the dust pipe and works off the aie put out by the saw. I can not imagine that it would be efficient in an enclosed area. If you do not have a shop vac then the bag will help but not completely. The shop vac hardly7 does well enough. So get a shop vac or an enclosed Table saw with a 4" dust port
Works as well as should be expected. Just don't expect too much. In other words if you think this will prevent sawdust from getting in your shop or keeping an area clear of sawdust, think again. As my father in law would saw: "it catches the big part" (of the sawdust).
Love my Bosch portable saw and the stand is great. One issue to resolve is that the dust chute directs gouts of sawdust across the shop. Using the shop dust collection system works fine but when using the saw on-site a huge mess can result. I ordered the dust collector bag with great hopes. I got dusted. This thing does not work well at all. Very little dust ends up in the bag because the collector system on the saw is ineffective. Save your money, just hook up your shop vac.
The dust collector seems to catch the majority of the saw dust created and is better than no system, however if it can be afforded I would reccomend a shop vac or other powered dust collector over this. However in a pinch the works fairly well.
