Bosch GLM80 265 ft. Lithium-Ion Laser Distance Meter

Very very nice product and very good work iam very happy

1. There is no way to manually decide if you want to measure distance or angle. The device just automatically switch between at reaching certain slope tolerance the device is held in. It's infuriating that whenever I'm measuring distances while holding the device at certain oblique positions, it just switch to angle measurement, and can never be switch back, unless you force-restart it. Very annoying.

2. The battery died barely two years in usage. As dead. Can no longer be recharged. Compounding the problem is that there is absolutely ZERO support from Bosch in the Philippines. The listed contact numbers are non-existent. Authorized shops will never accept units for repair nor sell parts. Bosch laser devices in the Philippines are basically DISPOSABLE. One tiny problem, and the device should be thrown away.

I purchase GLM 80 from ebay.in and happen to found out later that battery died very fast (since i don't check it in the first place. I would like to change the battery and willing to pay. But since my work place is very remote, please help!!!!

Great product! Small, convenient unit. Use it for measuring both inside rooms and outside measurements for listing and verifying houses in Real Estate. Quick, easy and accurate measurements. Outside measurements taken even on a sunny day. Have not found a desired measurement that I could not get with this unit. Have had this unit for several months and still on the original charge.

I build decks, fences, and various other items out of wood. This little tool is invaluable to quickly measure distances and store them, I always feel like I'm on the cutting edge when I'm at a bid. It's also great for measuring the height of things using the triangulation mode. The only downside is that it doesn't work on sunny days very well.

I use a laser measurer at work every day. When my old Bosch finally died after years of hard use, I was given another brand of measurer. After 2 inspections, I gave it back and asked for a Bosch. The laser dot is easy to see even outside. The operation of the measurer is simple (once you learn the icons). The battery practically lasts forever, and the product is made to last.

I use the GLM-80 for all my site measurements in the production of custom kitchens. It has excellent battery life compared t other units I've used. I would recommend this product.

I had mine for a couple off year and it the best laser distance measure I ever had and the battery last forever .

PROS: ACCURATE!!! Lightweight. User friendly. Huge timesaver.

CONS: Can be difficult to use outdoors without laser glasses. Sometimes has difficulty with metallic substrates and glossy finishes due to laser scatter (use a target in this case).

I have purchased three of these for myself and my employees - they pay back the investment in time saved the first time you use it. Anything over 50' and outdoors you'll want to throw on a pair of laser glasses if you want to see the dot - not the most powerful. But, this thing is accurate to within 1/8" at 100', and 1/4" anything over that. The days of jacking around with a tape in the wind are over!

I also use it when figuring what size of aerial lift to use. Just stand in your projected base area and shoot to your working height - takes 30 seconds.

I sent two guys to layout dimensions for 15,000 square feet of cladding on a building. It took them a day and a half to bring me back 300+ dimensions using a boom lift.

I have also used this personally in my own home measuring for trim and saved myself several hours with very quick and very accurate layout. It stores the last 20 dimensions with fairly easy recall - read the manual and play with it to figure it out.

I've been using the GLM 80 for the last 6 months, and I've been very pleased with it. The first few times I used it, I also used a steel tape. The accuracy was spot on, so now I trust it's measurements and have not been let down.

My uses are almost always indoors. It's very easy to see the dot inside. I did try it outside, and it works great, but at a distance it's hard to spot the red dot in the sun. I had a pair of red glasses that came with a laser level that helped some, but if I were to measure long distances outside I'd probably just grab my measuring tape.

I'd definitely recommend the GLM 80 for it's accuracy, durability and great battery life.

I have had this distance meter for a couple years now and it has served me well. The battery lasts a very long time even in cold weather. The only issue I have run into is the accuracy when pointing it at a shiny or metal object. The readings will be off a little when doing so.

I have owned this GLM-80 for several years now . This is a tool that i do not use every day , but , invaluable when i need it. For example : , I mostly work by myself . When I install crown molding It is very difficult to take measurements with a sloppy measuring tape. The GLM-80 is accurate to the 1/16th of an inch . It is reliable ,easy to use and extremely accurate.

I've only had the GLM 80 for a couple of weeks. I've been familiarizing myself with the operation of the unit. And though I think it will become much easier to use, the more I use it, I believe that instructions and reference card that come with the unit leave a person confused. They could have been written better. That's the only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5.

I've taken measurements around the house, and a few outside the house-and because I was in the shade, I didn't have any issue with getting a reading. I'm curious to see how it goes when I get the chance to take some longer measurements outside.

I've performed the multi measurement accuracy check of the unit (page 29 of the manual), and it was consistent within 0.003 feet, (very good in my opinion). I'm looking forward to using this tool to layout and build a new woodworking hobby shop.

I use this to measure everything including rooms sizes, ceiling heights etc.

I really love this tool- it has so many more features than others that are more expensive. You can not only measure straight, you can get grade, slope, height, area and more. There is so much packed into this yet did I tell you it will also measure distance? Great buy!

I'm a big bosch fan, this has to be the best purchase I've made, even stores the sizes for later, battery last for ever too, can't fault it. well done bosch.

I have been using tape measures for building layout measurement for years. Lots of obstacles and time to get an accurate measurement. No more with the Bozch GLM80 is save time and get accuracy

I love that I'm now able to measure some of the hard to reach and longer areas without needing a second person. The features on this model are great and have worked without problems.

Very fast and convenient to use. Always finding many uses

I measure offices for cable installation almost daily. The GLM 80 has been a great addition to my tools, it is faster and more accurate than a wheel or tape measure. The only down side is that it is not easy to see the laser on dark surfaces more than 100 feet away. The battery is great, I charge from my computer about once a month while I am at my desk.

I bought this laser measure a couple of months ago, as I had been looking at buying one for about a year now. We are looking at purchasing a new house, so it has really come in handy measuring/verifying room sizes. I cannot believe how accurate it turned out to be. And better yet is the distance that I am able to measure (I have even used it to measure property lot lines). I would definitely recommend this product.

I needed a laser measurer to do square footage fast in cluttered homes where a tape measure just won't cut it. Had this a year now and it works great, saves me a ton of time.

I've been using this laser measure for a while and have found that I can trust it for measuring distances,angles and even indirect measurement. I can even trust it for measuring baseboard or crown moulding; it is as accurate as a tape measure! This tool is a great time saver and I really appreciate that it's conveniently rechargeable with a USB

While the advertisements describe the angle measuring range as being 0-360 degrees, what they don't tell you is that the laser switches off when you use the angle function. It is possible to measure angles in other functions with the laser turned on, but in those settings the angle maxes out at +/- 60 degrees. So if you are like me, and wanting to measure both distances and angles, this may not be what you want. 

I've only had this for a week, but it appears to be everything I expected. The device is very configurable and is fairly intuitive(important for me as I seldom read instructions). It seems well made (rugged)Easy to slip into a pocket or nail pouch if necessary. The laser is brite enough to see in a well lit room, haven't tried it outside as of yet.After a week I would recommend this device.

I bought this unit to use outside. While it gives considerable precision in its readings, I haven't checked its accuracy yet.
However, there are two issues that I noticed. First, when using it outside, there is no way that one could make a measurement at the maximum range without some kind of reflector. Even at 50 feet, I needed to use a white cardboard to locate the red dot and then start moving outward to the point being measured. For greater distances, using a high reflectivity plastic roadside reflector was required. Perhaps this need should be mentioned in the manual.
A second issue was the icons used in the GUI. They were not immediately obvious and somewhat obscure in their meaning. Larger, more meaningful icons would be helpful.

Great measuring tool. I frequently need to get measurements where there often are obstructions, the indirect measurement is great. It's also very handy to get the height of a building. No more balancing act trying to get a tape measure to stand up 10', 12' and higher.

I ordered the unit several weeks ago and it has made taking measurements by myself easy. No need to have someone hold up the tape for long measurements. Battery life is great!  I only wish that my unit had english units so I didn't have to do any conversions,  but that's not a dealbreaker though.

Purchased the GLM80 several months ago....needed it for very difficult and hard to get at measurements in a seven story "adaptive re-use" project. The tool was user friendly and extremely accurate. Wish I'd bought several years ago!

I am using this for the past three weeks almost every day, it has replaced every other measuring tool.
Very accurate and easy to use.
I would only add the possibility to use the laser pionter while leveling

The cost was worth it. Measuring is so easy with this tool. Carry it on my tool belt alot. *Inadvertent on, bending or climbing a ladder. Maybe a recessed on/off button or a lock for it would help.
Overall though, nice.

A couple of months ago I saw the Bosch GLM 80 being used by our kitchen contractor to measure and quote a job. It looked so easy and accurate I ordered one on-line the same evening. I've used it many times since, as we are having major renovations done to our home. Gone are the days when I struggled with a measuring tape that was too short or too bendy. The GLM 80 laser measures instantly and accurately every time. I've used it outside for fencing measurements too. I'm glad I've joined the laser measurement revolution!

Beam washes out in daylight on longer measurements. Several measurement functions - area, volume, determine angles or length of sloped surfaces. overall good value

I do a lot of small projects, and it is always disturbing to go around furniture or having to move it, and takes more time; or even have someone to assist you; when using the measuring tape. Now I do most of the things myself and use my time where I really need it. It works great indoors, it can also be used outdoors but when the sun is really bright, you can't really see the laser, but there are some special glasses for that. All in all, it is a great working tool, that keeps productivity flowing, and makes life easier. This tool is easy to use and understand form a beginner to a pro. I personally love it, worth every cent.

This device has made me complete my job in a much more efficient manner. This tool is accurate and fast.
