65 ft. Compact Laser Measure with Backlit Display - GLM 20
I bought a "never to be named" laser printer. it required charging for about 2 hours. then it didn't work and I had to replace it. I bought the bosch, glm 20. opened the box, and measured the area I needed measured. I loved it worked right out of the box. great!! I recommend this to anyone who wants a measuring laser that works out of the box - no charging involved
I'm a long retired senior who does struggle keeping up with some technology; but this is a very simple and accurate tool that eliminates all the playing with a tape measure when your measuring things of more than 5 feet.
As a Kitchen installer my measurements have to be on the money. However when measuring for a layout the 1/8" to 1/4" play I found is easy to deal with. And for the cost compared to other high priced laser measuring device's, I found myself buying everyone in my crew one for Christmas.
Although you cant replace a tape meassure or wheel in every application, this laser is a life saver. I use it in indoor applications to measure kitchens, bathrooms, ceilings, walls and flooring. It doubles as a laser pointer to help point things out to customers too! I love this thing and I dont know how I lived without it.
I like tech toys....I mean tools. This is a pretty cool gadget and seems to be very accurate. I only have about an hour of use out of it so I can't really give feedback on long-term reliability but it seems pretty sturdy.
Purchased this when it went on sale in Home Depot for Black Friday. Could not pass up the sale and was in need of one for a large job I was working on. Have been using it daily on site for the past three weeks and the accuracy its amazing. Works great for the long measurements when you need just a quick idea of what you are dealing with as well as the precise measurements.
I was hoping it would allow me to measure my roof from ground level, it does not. Real time measuring is only good for what I would call "add on measuring' - like laser from here to the wall and then back up 5 feet. I don't know what to call the type of measuring I want to do - is that indirect?
I had to replace my first one because I dropped it and the display ceased to read properly. I started the e-repair route but by the time you pay round trip shipping it is not worth it. So, be careful not to drop it or if it breaks, it is not worth repairing unless you live close to a service center. That said, it is a great tool...very accurate and easy to use. The only slight issue is with the lanyard that comes with it. You really need to use it to prevent dropping. But, first issue, it is kind of in the way when you butt the tool to the wall or whatever you are measuring from. It was my trying to flip it out of the way that caused me to drop it. My bad. Second, there are no instructions on how to install it. Turns out it is fairly easy as long as you remove the battery cover.
Picked it up to measure some windows and it did a great job. Wish I bought one sooner! Great that you can go from feet and inches, to inches, to meters and can also hold your last measurement in case you can't read it after measuring. I've heard good things about this and I agree with them. Great work, Bosch!
Only used a few times so far but it works well. I didn’t realize it had so many conversions when I purchased. I accidentally switched it from feet/inches and took me a few minutes to figure out how to change it back. My only complaint is that it does not work great outdoors as the laser is hard to see in the sunlight.
Just replaced my earlier device (left the batteries in for too long and destroyed it). Much easier to use this simpler to use model. One negative is it did not include a carrying case like the old model. Fortunately, the old carrying case fits the new model. Now keep the batteries in the case, but outside the device until ready to use.
I love this tool. I work in the heating and air industry and we have to measure distance in attics and crawl spaces daily. It takes two people to use a tape measure and takes a lot of time. The GLM 20 takes the measure instantly and the visible laser is bright so you can be spot on. Plus we don't have to crawl around in the dirt or balance on the rafters in attics. The only thing negative is it doesn't come with a lanyard. It has a place to put a lanyard, so I found one off an old camera and put it on. I would not take an expensive tool like this on a job site without a lanyard.
Works as advertised and is a great quality product. The only issue I had is that I accidentally switched the units from Feet-inches to only inches! I did not know how to switch it back. Looked everywhere online and no one seemed to address how to toggle between units. Sooo... I finally figured it out. In the "off" position, press and hold the button. This will turn on the device but also begin to toggle between different units (ft-in, in, and m) Everything seems really easy in retrospect but it was pretty frustrating for a while. So for not being intuitive enough or providing instructions you lose a star. Otherwise, amazing, compact, reliable, product.
I bought my Bosch Professional GLM 20 several months ago and it is so easy to use! It’s so small I can carry it in my purse to use as needed. I did have a problem today when it switched from ft. / in to meters when I measured an outdoor space in the dark. I came in and did a search and found it a very simple fix. Simply turn it off, then turn it back on while continually holding the button. It will cycle between m/“/‘ “ (meters/inches/feet-inches. It’s now fixed!
I have owned this tool for a few months now and have to say I'm very pleased with the performance! I was a little gun shy at first having experienced the old sonic measuring devices and wild results in measurements you got from them so I was cautious about trying another non contact measuring device. I was pleasantly surprised by this tool! not only is it highly accurate its easy to use too! the laser makes it easy to line up where you want to take a measurement. If this one does happen to break I'd buy it again :-)
to connect strap/lanyard, open battery case, remove battery, and then string the lanyard thin part of strap into and back out of the battery area. then, loop the thick part of the strap thru the thin part to secure it...
The product was easy to use right out of the box. Seems to work quite well. I could not figure out how/where to connect the provided lanyard to the tool. Minor thing. Otherwise, highly recommended for general household use.
