motor brake
I just received this saw, it's a great saw but does not have a motor brake. All of my other miter saws have motor brakes. Very surprised this one doesn't. When speed is important, I rely on the blade to quickly stop to do repeat cuts. It's a great saw, but would like to know why Bosch wouldn't have this incorporated into the saw.

Great little trim saw
Great for 95% of what we need to cut in the field. Combine this with a good track saw and a way to crosscut and you are all set.

One sweet machine!
I have a small shop and most of my past projects have been for the family and friends consisting mostly of bookcases, blanket chests and other large items. Because of my age I began getting various injuries wrestling these things around. Then I started thinking about creating small boxes to satisfy the want lists of some of the women in my family. A whole new ballgame ensued; a degree off with crown molding could be covered up with putty, the same thing on a small jewel box just wouldn't fly.
I really began focusing on quality of materials and precision of workmanship. My little Bosch jobsite table saw would give me excellent rips for small pieces but crosscutting was an endless source of frustration, plus neither it nor my other miter saw would cut stock more than 5 inches wide. My radial arm saw would give me 12" cuts, but it's a hassle to setup and a bit of overkill for the 1/4" X 12" X 24" Baltic birch stock I'm now working with.
This Bosch sliding bevel saw is so light and compact that it's easily placed on my Festool MFT table, then can be placed on a modified industrial moving dolly that stows when not in use. I mostly use Rockler's universal dust extraction hose hooked up to my 2 1/2" Shop Vac that's very fast and efficient. Loosening the four Phillips Head screws I was able to get 90 degrees with dead on accuracy this time around.
I'm very happy with this saw, it's a very worthwhile addition to my shop.

Great compact saw, needs a few tweaks.
This saw has been in use since the fall of 2013 and it replaced a compact 10-inch single bevel miter saw. After using a 10-inch (in addition to a 12-inch dual bevel) for many years, this saw is more versatile than the 10-inch. In fact, my 12-inch has seen much less use since purchasing this saw. As a trim carpenter, you're installing mostly flat stock trim, with the occasional thicker crowns and rails which a dual-bevel 12-inch would be better suited. However this saw has a few shortcomings, such as it's awkwardly placed top carry handle-you're constantly banging your knuckle against the dust port during transport. A better design would be fixed, (not hinged) and place 90 degrees from it's current placement, much like other saws. Removing the handle has been highly considered! In additional, a dual bevel option would be more versatile (esp. cutting longboards). Lastly, when the blade winds down, the bearing is a little noisy. However, one cool feature is it does have an adjustable bevel stop that allow you to temporarily go past 90 by a couple degrees; especially useful when cutting a slight bevel at each end of a deck board for a tight fit. Overall, this is a great compact saw!

What height on a vertical base moulding cut can this saw cut
Joe on Feb 19, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The fence height and blade guard are about three inches, any higher than
that and you'd probably exceed the saw's safety limits. I mostly purchased
this saw for it's lightweight portability and ability to cut wide thin
exotics and laminates. I also found out that it leaves something to be
desired as far as accuracy for vertically mitered cuts as is the case with
most common powered miter saws.
