The drawbacks so are battery life and the cutting string. I read a lot about li-ion batteries being much better than their predecessor. Having to wait 3 hours to charge a battery that lasts 35 min isn't very effective when you have a lot of lawn to trim. Sometimes li-ion batteries need several charges before their storage time increases, so maybe I haven't hit that magic number yet. Also, the cutting string is not very tough and a spool runs out pretty fast. I need to see if I can modify the unit to use a heavier guage string. Not having to drag a cord around like I used to is a plus but I'm not sure it's a big gain with the recharging issue. It works but it's not a big jump above my elecric cord one.
