The tool cuts great and the alignment notch is a good guide, but my laser doesn't seem to be aligned with the notch.
I have this saw close to years now & at first i thought that i had made a big mistake in purchasing it. But the more that i use it the more i like it. A friend & i recently completed a shed project & this saw proved its worth. I had to design & cut gussets for the roof trusses & in a short time they were all cut & put in place. Sure it won't cut 2x4's but that's not i bought it for. This saw excels in cutting osb, plywood & other lumber up tp 11/4 ". It really came in handy when i had to cut the plywood into strips for use as trim on the shed. As far as i'm concerned, this is a great little saw. As for the complaint about the safety switch, get used to safety switches on most of all the new power tools. The manufacturers have to protect themselves from lawsuits from stupid people who should not have a power tool in their hands.
this is a cool little saw with lots, and lots of Power!!! sure it would be cooler if it could cut a 2 x 4 with out flipping...but overall I absolutely love this thing, nice and lightweight...very powerful and love the laser...I have been showing it to everyone, your sales should pick up,haha
I've used my Versacut to cut many materials and it does a great job with all the ease I expected. My only complaint is how hard it is to press the start safety switch while trying to use the saw. I wish you would design it with a button instead. Other than that, I love my saw.
I bought one about 18 months ago to trim an aluminum and wood threshold to size. It worked perfectly! I've had the opportunity to use it for many other projects since, and it has performed well. The handle shape is comfortable but could be a little more narrow to make it even more comfortable when making a lot of cuts. During periods of extended use, I've got these improvement suggestions: Move the trigger interlock to be activated by the pinky/ring finger instead of the index finger, and use the index & middle fingers to activate the saw Use a weaker spring or make the plunge depth lockable. When using the saw to rip 8 foot lengths of plywood, the spring force on the base can be fatiguing and can force the saw to not cut to the full depth. Overall, when I need a quick cut on anything smaller than a 2x4, this is the saw I will reach for. I would recommend this to anyone. (BTW, I ended up on this site looking for replacement blades.)
