Installation was very predictable. More plumbing with valve set which should probably be used in all installations. Required 3/4 in gas line. Venting was a bit more involved that standard water heater but only required another hour or so with running intake and exhaust w PVC. All in all not too difficult just think your way thru it before installing. First unit arrived dented in a torn box but CPO shipped a replacement within an hour of the 1st unit being dropped off for return at UPS.
Although this is a good size water flow producing unit (84 series), i wouldnt try a smaller model. Showers dont use much flow bathtubs do tho.
I love it, i no longer need to schedule clothes washing, as this hot water is continuous. A water tank needs to heat up again, but not this unit.
This (H) model dose not use a chimney, but rather a vent. This style is nessesary when using a High Efficiency furnance, as in my reagion a hot water heater cant be connected to a chimnly, unless a furnace is also connected to that same chimney. Most fumes arnt hot enough to escape the chimney with out a furnace, and will make the chimney fall apart.

Picture shows intake & exhaust PVC of newer model Rheem RTGH-84DVN Condensing Tankless Water Heater. Specs. say it takes 3" x 5" concentric vent older model Rheem RTGH-84DVLN. Please confirm what it is.
For intake the recommendations is a 3" PVC to external source. I have a 96% efficient furnace that also uses PVC intake and exhaust (4") the intake is internal to the house, the area where the furnace and water heater are located has a 6 in pipe from the outside that is always open, is it acceptable to plumb the intake internally like the furnace, the exhaust would still be run as per specifications externally.
