Comments about 4224B 220V 3 HP 1/3 Phase 24 in. x 42 in. Lathe with Lamp Kit:
I do mostly large bowls, hollow vessels, and urns, in addition to turning legs for tables and islands. The first piece I turned on the big boy was a chunk of olive burl that had killed my old Delta DL40. The Delta really complained about that piece of wood before it up and died. The 4224 just spun it! No compaints, no hesitation. I could not slow the lathe down regardless of the agrsssiveness of my cuts. Since then I have done blanks I had to hoist with a cherry picker. These blanks would not have fit the Delta and if they had they were so out of balance the machine would have danced me all over the shop. My production has doubled and I have expanded my product line. Like I said at the top, he is a real gentleman: he stands there and quietly does his job.
