The reviews are true.
When I say thumped I mean that it will often not want to fire. Then use it like a hammer and thump the roof. Sometimes I have to thump the actuator with my palm. Sometimes I will push on the nail heads through the slotted opening to push on the nails being feed. If I was doing this for a living I would give up on this nailer real fast. But I realize that this is not contractor grade and would never pass an initial inspection by a professional. I am seriously considering returning this item.

Well worth the money.
Just finished a roof with this and it performed very well. I'm new to using and loading a coiled roofing nailer, and it jammed once, but I'm guessing it was me.

Good product
The product has been very good minus it jammed once and double shoots occasionally

Durable, but keep a nail punch handy
I've been using this nailer for the past 120-150 sheds I've done. That it has survived that long without serious issue is a glowing endorsement. It has survived drops, rain, snow, hot summers, without issue.

The trick to this too is the occasional jam. We use a few different types of nailer, and this is the only one that "spits" out the last nail in the coil. Which is sort of useful because you know when you are empty... but is frustrating for our new guys because the last nail can jam. And it jams hard. Luckily, this is easy to unjam with a nail punch or 1/4" bolt... just pound the bolt back in and the nail comes loose.

I can see some people complaining more, but for the overall durability and ease with which I clear jams, I haven't really bothered to look for a replacement. It is on the list, and I will likely try something other than Porter-cable for the next gun (our P-C Framing nailer has had a number of issues) but I might easily go another 3-4 years with this gun because it works, and it has never let me down.

BEST ANSWER: You can find operating instructions for the Porter-Cable 15 Degree Coil Roofing Nailer in the manual. Here is a link to the manual:

New Vs. Reconditioned

What's the difference between New and Factory-Reconditioned?

Factory-Reconditioned products have been returned to the manufacturer and are restored to like-new operating condition; they go through a rigorous testing and inspection process. Plus, they offer a significant savings vs. new.
  • Reconditioned products may have minor cosmetic blemishes or scratches that do not affect item performance.
  • Reconditioned products may not come with all of the consumables the new version comes with (bits, sanding pads/papers, cases, etc.).
  • Both come with a manufacturer warranty and are covered by our Money Back Guarantee; New is 30 days, Reconditioned is 60 days.
