Good heat gun, but...
After owning two Chicago Electric (HF) heat guns that failed after minimal use I decided to get a proper heat gun and bought this reconditioned Milwaukee 8975. This gun is well built and feels balanced in the hand. I was used to the Chicago, which blows a narrow blast of hot air, while this Milwaukee blows a smooth, wide volume of hot air which seems to works better on vinyl wrap. It's very controllable. It has a clever cooling stand built into the handle which holds the gun vertically which allows the barrel to cool like a chimney. My only complaint is sometimes the motor makes a harsh rattling sound which makes me suspect the reconditioning process didn't quite fix everything that needed fixing. Time will tell. Overall a good deal.

Pros
Lightweight
Great performance and value
We use this product in a production commercial environment heating and shaping plastic. They are lightweight, easy to use, stand up to reasonable and sometimes unreasonable abuse. You can pay a lot more but you won't get a better heat gun.

Great tool
I'm a window tinter and like this little tool, best thing about it is that it is weightless,,things that I don't like is the noise of the fan...and looks that it is cheaply made...usaully products from [*]....fan should be quiter and redesign it with new plastic that can make it look better without touching its weight....but works great,,

Happy Customer
The Fan works properly, with a well-calibrated air flow, but sounds as if it came from a gumball machine! Tool light weight is a very nice feature. The bench stand is a good idea poorly executed. Overall, I am pleased with the tool functionality.

Fastest Heat Gun
We use heat guns almost exclusively for heat shrink. Through trials of other brands, we have found that Milwaukee brand are the most dependable, heat up fastest and cause the least down time- saving us money. Sure, there are cheaper models out there, but these work best for us.

New Vs. Reconditioned

What's the difference between New and Factory-Reconditioned?

Factory-Reconditioned products have been returned to the manufacturer and are restored to like-new operating condition; they go through a rigorous testing and inspection process. Plus, they offer a significant savings vs. new.
  • Reconditioned products may have minor cosmetic blemishes or scratches that do not affect item performance.
  • Reconditioned products may not come with all of the consumables the new version comes with (bits, sanding pads/papers, cases, etc.).
  • Both come with a manufacturer warranty and are covered by our Money Back Guarantee; New is 30 days, Reconditioned is 60 days.
