Comments about Milwaukee 12 in. Dual-Bevel Sliding Compound Miter Saw:

I am a General Contractor and I just purchased this saw. I have used Hitachi, Makita and DeWalt comparables and this one is my favourite. The digital gauge is a little overkill but positve stops make this saw super accurate (similar to the DeWalt). The makita saws DO NOT hold their accuracy over a long period of use. The stand is not a great design but is very similar to most on the market.

Comments about 12 in. Dual-Bevel Sliding Compound Miter Saw:

It doesn't cut straight, the right fence in a take off, useless. From what I read the degree feature is only good for about a month. Very disappointing from what used to be THE top of the line tools,I have many of their tools and have been very happy. My tools were made in America.

Comments about Milwaukee 12 in. Dual-Bevel Sliding Compound Miter Saw:

Have used or owned a few other 12" saws including Ridgid and Dewalt. This saw beats them hands down, especially the Dewalt that I think is highly overrated.

I had to adjust miter out of the box though, it was out over half a degree. Not a tough job but it was surprising.

The stand? Don't even bother. What a piece of junk. Used it on one job and went and bought a Ridgid stand to mount it on and gave the Milwaukee stand away. If you need to transport the saw anywhere it is useless. The wheels are so small you can't roll over gravel or anything other than smooth, solid surfaces. Forget taking up a flight of stairs. The base is so narrow when folded up it tips over in the back of your truck and has to be supported.

The right side fence not sliding is pretty annoying as others have stated but not a dealbreaker for me.

A couple of people have complained about the lights being dim. I'm not sure if that's a problem on older models or not, but I have no problem with the brightness and the clarity of them, being led is very good. Much better than a laser.

One minor nitpick that I'm surprised no one else has mentioned is that there is no place to wrap up the cord. For a saw of this caliber there's really no excuse for such a simple miss.

Dust collection is good but I want to hook up to my shop vac on site and with the weird rectangular dust opening the only way to do so is to buy Milwaukee's vac attachment. Good luck finding one. I did finally but I think $23 for a hunk of plastic is a bit much.... C'mon Milwaukee - include it with the saw!

The cuts (once the saw is dialled in) are wonderful. Like I said, it is the nicest saw I've used to date.

Oh yeah, make a crown stop for your saw, that would be a nice accessory to have.

One last nitpick before I forget - the placement of the slider lock is terrible, can be very difficult to get your fingers in to loosen or tighten it.

If Milwaukee just listens to the feedback and makes a few minor changes to this saw (and a total rebuild of their stand), this saw will be just about perfect.

Comments about Milwaukee 12 in. Dual-Bevel Sliding Compound Miter Saw:

Nice first try for a miter saw from Milwaukee.
It has a few flaws, though:
mounted on a stand, the cord does't reach the floor- unacceptable if you want to use a cordreel
compound cuts are only possible 45/45 left and even less right
the right fence doesn't slide over- it has to be removed as soon as you need the right bevel
can't cut 3 pieces 2x stacked- my other saw can
The trully good: this saw is HD. I bet, it can fall off your pick up without any damage. It was dead on both square and bevel out the box.
Great framing saw- for finishing there are better ones

They are both the same item. The 6955-20 is a new saw and the 6955-80 is reconditioned.

          • A:

The first difference is that the 6955-80 Model offered on the website is factory reconditioned and is offered with a 1-year manufacturer's warranty while the 6955-20 model is new and includes a 5-year warranty. Also, the 6955-80 model has a weight of 65 pounds and a base molding specification of 6.55 inches; the 6955-20 model weighs 55 pounds and has a 6.0 inch base molding specification. Lastly, the 6955-80 model features a dual slide which is not listed on the 6955-20 model.

        New Vs. Reconditioned

Factory-Reconditioned products have been returned to the manufacturer and are restored to like-new operating condition; they go through a rigorous testing and inspection process. Plus, they offer a significant savings vs. new.

        • Reconditioned products may have minor cosmetic blemishes or scratches that do not affect item performance.
        • Reconditioned products may not come with all of the consumables the new version comes with (bits, sanding pads/papers, cases, etc.).
        • Both come with a manufacturer warranty and are covered by our Money Back Guarantee;
New is 30 days, Reconditioned is 60 days.
