Basicly a good drill
I drill mild to heavy steel mostly. I use high and low speeds based on the conditions and material. This drill does a good job when I need to have a very slow speed for extended periods. Chuck tends to loosen slightly as I drill. It is a very heavy drill, so must be supported. The side handle has a guide rod bracket and "easy clamp" that gets in the way when chucking bits. The chuck key is slightly too small and is a pain sometimes.

Milwaukee Hammer Drill
After years of using Dewalt tools and spending thousands on repairs to there tools only lasting for a year, I switched back to Milwaukee. I can say with experience that there is no comparison. Milwaukee is a more heavy duty and more powerful. If you want a tool that will last this is the one.

Drill Pro
As with my other CPO reconditioned purchases, it is difficult to distinguish this tool from new, except for the price. I used to work in a major tool repair depot and I am very familiar with Milwaukee tool construction and quality. This drill is no exception. I have only used it for the past month, but it has met or exceeded all of my expectations for performance and flexible use. Especially for the CPO price, I am not aware of a better value in a 1/2" hammer drill.

Are you sure this was not a new drill?
Opening the outer shipping box I found a nearly new red Milwaukee drill box with a "you can't tell it was not new" drill in it. It looked great and felt great in my hand. I had 12 x 3/4" x 5" deep holes to drill in a concrete floor. My last drill died starting this effort. This Millwaukee drill worked great for all of the drilling with much mess effort than my last drill.

The product is 1st rate and was shipped and delivered very quickly.

A great drill and a great deal!

Is the 5380-21 a variable speed drill? Any speed from 0-1500RPm, and any speed from 0-3500RPM?
Matthew on Nov 29, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The drill was delivered last weekend. It is a variable speed drill. The trigger stop only holds the trigger at the maximum speed position. The drill has more torque than any drill I have had the chance to use. The two speed change mechanism is not a synchromesh, so you need to change the gear position without the motor running (turn the chuck instead). Drills through a 2x4 with a 1/2" diameter sharp tool in under two seconds. I am very happy with purchase.
Is this drill made in the USA or in china
whiteye on Aug 4, 2015
BEST ANSWER: This model is made in China.
how do you put the drill bit in?
Anita on May 15, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Bit installation can be found on page 5 of the manual. Here is a link to the manual:

New Vs. Reconditioned

What's the difference between New and Factory-Reconditioned?

Factory-Reconditioned products have been returned to the manufacturer and are restored to like-new operating condition; they go through a rigorous testing and inspection process. Plus, they offer a significant savings vs. new.
  • Reconditioned products may have minor cosmetic blemishes or scratches that do not affect item performance.
  • Reconditioned products may not come with all of the consumables the new version comes with (bits, sanding pads/papers, cases, etc.).
  • Both come with a manufacturer warranty and are covered by our Money Back Guarantee; New is 30 days, Reconditioned is 60 days.
