bought the bdf451 drill combo set from Matco tool truck in March this year. I am a mechanic by trade and had been using it regularly, almost daily until 2 months ago, and hadn't had a single problem with the batteries, even through almost daily recharging. now, after having sat for two months because i've moved into the office and out of the shop, I went to use one of the batteries today and it had no charge and would not recharge. The other battery is perfectly fine and has the same power and life as it did when new. I understand this may be a tool intended for daily use, but i am very disappointed to discover i have to invest and additional $100 to replace the battery now that i need it again or wait for Makita's turnaround time to have it under warranty. Great for fully active professionals, not so much for once-in-awhile diy'er.

I have purchased multiple batteries, and none of them have lasted much beyond warranty, and some of them have failed in the first 90 days of useage. They are great when they work, but an aggravation when they don't. I am very dissapointed in the performance.

I used it occasionally over three months and one of the two batteries died. Will not recharge and the diagnostic message on charger says it is broken. [$]I expect better of the battery! I like it, but until the batteries are more reliable, I couldn't recommend to a friend.
