This drill is great, but I can't afford to keep it in batteries. Bought the drill with 2 batteries. Very occasional use. Replaced an old Black & Decker 12V, its batteries still work, a little. About a year after purchase, one of the batteries wouldn't take a charge. The electronic charger just flashed the "bad battery" signal. I replaced the battery. A few months later, another one conked out. Same problem. Interesingly, I know the battery is NOT bad, as I could charge one battery, and jumper the charged one to the "bad" one and the two would equalize. Repeating process gave me a semi-usable battery.
Now the third one has conked out. Same problem.
At $80 a pop, it's cheaper to buy a new drill..which make no sense.

The 18V Makita Impact is worth its weight in gold but the batteries have a short life span. It is used for home projects only and both original batteries have died (will not take a charge)in less than two years. I have other guns that are 10+ years old and batteries still take a good charge.

this battery setup is the real deal. this products only shortcoming is that the battery "dies" about 6 months in. this is based on full time 40 hour work weeks. but it still is the best i have used to date.
