Great Axe for a Great Price
The size & weight of this model are classics...the 3/4 or Boy's Axe size. It's ideal for bushcrafting, felling small to medium trees, bucking, splitting, limbing, etc. Safer than a Small Forest Axe due to it's longer handle. Mine came with very tight straight grain, a well ground & shaped head which was beautifully hung. All in all a first rate piece. Now here's the thing...it is made by a major Swedish maker that charges over twice the price for its own brand. Plus, once the new owner puts a keen edge on it and sands/oils the handle it will be as good as the topmost maker's product out there for 1/3 the cost. These are not only great tools they are a stellar Bargain. Lot's of good reviews for this on UTube.

Pros
Lightweight
Swedish steel Bargain.
Bought this axe here and it's totally a steal. It is reviewed all over UTube. Likely made by Hults Bruks and is up to their superb quality for a half to a third of the price. How do they do it? Finishing. It's a little rough here and there. Plan to dress up the edge with files & a Lansky Puck stone...lightly sand the handle & apply boiled linseed oil. Other than that the steel is hand forged and will hold a super sharp edge forever (almost). It is well balanced, well designed and put together with the best materials. A joy to use. It quite possibly represents the greatest bargain available today in high quality outdoor tools. Buy it immediately!

Great axe. It came sharp and the wood in the handle was oriented correctly. What more could you ask for.

Get the Axe, it's not a trick.
Thanks to Wranglerstar on youtube for turning me on to this product. It's an axe, there is not much to say. It is built of good quality steel that won't need continuous sharpening like those cheap big box store brands. Sharper axe equals less work effort and after splitting a cord of wood you'll be happy you spent the extra couple of dollars. Speaking of staying sharp it comes straight out of the box fairly sharp, enough to start working at least. Remember there are always those out there that think it should be as sharp as a ninja sword. Well it ain't it's a frick'in axe made to cut wood produced in the past year not a sword made hundreds of years ago to cut a man in half in one swing. CPO after looking for the best deal was by far the cheapest with their first time free delivery so much so I also got the Husqvarna 13" hatchet.

Great axe
Holds an edge well, straight tight grain on handle. Sanded handle with 80, 100 and 150 grit then applied several coats of boiled linseed oil. Love this axe and CPO customer service is outstanding.

Not horrible
Good axe. It will do the job. Wasn't all that sharp out of the box but I got it like a razor.

Perfect for Green and soft wood
I got this axe because it was half the price of a real good name brand, and for chopping I can be rough on all parts of an axe. When I got it, it had a nice edge, but a bur on one side. Instead of honing it, i took the edge of a flat file and gently scraped the bur off to leave a razor sharp edge. I cut a dead maple log and noticed that there was a bur again. This time the edge was rolled just a little. I fixed it and cut down three large dead maple trees and the edge was rolled a little but still sharp. Since the blade is thin it cuts exactly like an axe ought to, but it isn't made for dead hardwood. The bevel seems too thin for hardwood. This axe does great for green wood and soft wood, but the edge rolls on dead hardwood.
Another little problem is that the handle is not as firm in the head as it should be. Stuck into a stump I can move the handle just a little in the head. But I'm going to add a wedge and that should firm it up enough to not move.
For the price these little problems are fine and it does what an axe should do. By all means it cuts extremely well due to its thin blade. But if a person wants an axe that is perfect they should probably go for a little more with a higher price. Just remember that an axe can only cut as good as its user! I got a carpenter axe at twice the price from a different maker and its edge doesn't roll and the handle is completely solid. But then it's for carpentry so I want it to last forever. Even still I really like this axe for general cutting - it does its job extremely well!
