  • 12 in. Sliding Dual Compound Miter Saw with Laser Marker

    Q:

I have lost power and thought it was the switch. Ordered a new switch and still did not work. When put the old switch back on and reassembled it started working. Two months later stopped again. Put a new switch on and still does not work.
A week later it started working again for two weeks and now is down again. Any comments?

This saw has two positions for the sliding portion. You can change it so the sliding portion extends backward like most sliding saws or you can change it so the sliding portion extends toward the user without changing the cut of the saw. pretty ingenious if you ask me

    Q:

Were exactly are the carbon brushes? How many of them? What do I look for as far as wear? Is there a location on the saw for storage of blade wrench?
Asked on 1/17/2014 by L. C. from Des Moines, Ia

    1 answer

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

The brushes transfer the electricity from outside the motor to the spinning winding in the center of the motor. They undergo quite a lot of friction, and after a while wear out. Carbon is used as it is a reasonable conductor, and is soft enough to wear down instead of wearing down the "comutator" - the ring the brushes press against. Brushes are designed to be replaceable in large motors because of this.
The saw takes a pair of them to operate.
No, the wrench is in a black bag.

New Vs. Reconditioned

What's the difference between New and Factory-Reconditioned?

Factory-Reconditioned products have been returned to the manufacturer and are restored to like-new operating condition; they go through a rigorous testing and inspection process. Plus, they offer a significant savings vs. new.
  • Reconditioned products may have minor cosmetic blemishes or scratches that do not affect item performance.
  • Reconditioned products may not come with all of the consumables the new version comes with (bits, sanding pads/papers, cases, etc.).
  • Both come with a manufacturer warranty and are covered by our Money Back Guarantee; New is 30 days, Reconditioned is 60 days.
