Q:What type of oil do I use? Automotive 100 or 5w30
A:Most generators requires a 5W30 viscosity however, we recommend referring to your owners manual to be certain. If you do no have a manual, please contact Generac directly at 1888-436-3722
Q:Would you help me where the spark plug is located for model 5837?
A:Here is the link to the engine manual for this generator. http://www.generac.com/Service/ManualSearch/
Q:Can the RTS14EZA1 transfer switch be used with this generator and replace the transfer switch that comes with this unit
A:The RTS14EZA1 is too large. This 7KW generator is only designed for use with it's included switch.
Q:I see the unit comes with a trans switch
A:Gas flow is regulated by the generator, but to determine the correct pipe size you must first determine the pressure you have. this can be done by a qualified plumber.
Q:How long (how many days) can I run this product without interruption?
A:It should be serviced after every 200 hours of use, basically like getting an oil change in your car...
Q:Can someone explain (briefly) installation? I assume that I would need at least an electrician. (I'm not a DIYer when it comes to electricity!)
A:First you will need to prep the location for the installation and place the composite pad on a firm and level surface. You will next place the generator on the pad. Then you will install the transfer switch (this is where a licensed electrician is very helpful), and wire it to the existing distribution panel in your home and and to the generator. You will next connect the fuel line (natural gas or propane, also helpful to have a licensed plumber for this step) to the generator. That is the simplified basics of installation. You can also download the installation manual from our site for detailed explanations of each step.
