Comments about Core Power 7kW 120/240 Volt Single Phase Air-Cooled Standby Generator with EZ Transfer Switch:

I bought this unit to act as a stand-by source for our home in the mountains. Commercial power here is subject to interruption about 2-3 times a week but most are not of long duration. This unit has been very reliable after 6 mounts of use. Propane usage has been as expected. The included auto switchover works well. I did my own installation (I am a PE) in conjunction with a major addition to the house. Because of that, I was able to redirect essential circuits to not exceed the 7KW that this unit can supply. Particularly useful were the feed-through lugs on the auto-transfer panel that allowed me to power a existing subpanel in the old section. We cook and heat with gas so the major loads are lighting, referigeration and water pump. Those loads are easily handled by this unit. Even though we are at 5600', the max load test did not indicate a significant reduction in available output. I can recommend this unit.

Comments about Core Power 7kW 120/240 Volt Single Phase Air-Cooled Standby Generator with EZ Transfer Switch:

Works great. This unit comes with NO wiring, thus installation is trickier. I installed this unit myself. Was fun project, but took me a good while. I had a licensed electrician look over my work. The only problem was, the transfer switch shipped with a bad 50 amp circuit breaker that I never would have figured out. Make no mistake, this unit is NOT quiet. You can have a conversation next to it while it is running, but you need to raise your voice some. We have not had a prolonged outage, but if we did, I have no doubt it would get old very quickly listening to that thing drone on. I have no doubt to get one whisper quiet would cost a fortune.

Recent power outages in Chicago left me the only one on the street with lights, air, and television. Perfect automatic on and off.
