Splits like a Boss!
I've done used many 8lb and 6lb mauls in my life. I've been spitting wood for almost 25 years, I used wood,Fiberglass handles both. They all work well and do well. This fiskars is designed very nice! First and foremost not many people talk about the handle, it's very nice has a harder grip rubber on the orange section and the black is very hard plastic/fiberglass or whatever they call it. I was worried the softer orange would be too soft and grippy but it's not at all. It's perfect! It's grippy but durable harder rubber. Should hold up very well. Also no vibration as expected from this maul.

The head is built great. Nice design. Splits hard nasty knotted wood like a boss. Little vibration and it's sharpened just right not razor sharp like a axe it's sharp/blunt like a maul should be! Take if from me... I split hundreds maybe thousands of our northeast hardwoods by hand every single year in Pennsylvania . And this is by far the best maul made! This has a Very good price and you won't be disappointed! I debated on other mauls that were 40.00 to 180.00 but not a huge wood handle fan. Once you use fiberglass handle tools you can't go back to wood. Kinda like pushing mowing your yard vs. Using a riding mower. Get this maul you will love it!
