Hanging replacement doors that need to be trimmed to size. This was the perfect tool for the job. Only downside is the cost but then you get what you pay for.

Comments about HL 850 E Planer in T-Loc Systainer:

If you've ever had the pleasure of using a good longbed jointer, this planer is as close as you'll get to a handheld version. The weight is perfect. The control is ultra precise and responsive, and the quality of cut is truly unrivaled. Although both planers seem to take a backseat in the Festool family, it is certainly not because of performance. Bar none, the finest planer I have ever laid my hands on..period. Cannot recommend enough.

Comments about HL 850 E Planer in T-Loc Systainer:

I love the grip and feel of the planer, the adjustment dial is in a great place and extremely easy to work with. Haven't tried the cutters other than the straight knife and doubt I will at the price. The chip collection bag is a decent size and can take quite a bit of material before emptying. It is a bit difficult to fit everything in the systainer though with the accessories.

Comments about HL 850 E Planer in T-Loc Systainer:

That's right, it can be a jointer too! To me this is the creme de la creme of power hand planers. It's powerful, versatile, stands way apart from its competitors and, so cleverly, converts itself into a jointer with a few simple attachments. Who could say no?

It's not cheap. Although it's cheap compared to it's little brother planer that's for sure. Of the two, this is the better investment. And if you have the cabbage to spend, this has just got to be the best power hand planer on the market.

I admire it and its engineers, clever fellows.
