Powerful, high-precision router. A turret stop allows fast and accurate adjustment of the height of the router without the use of special tools. Adjustable speed control produces higher surface quality and longer tool life. The router has a special base runner that leaves no scratches. Designed for one or two-handed use. Fits Festool guide rail for precision straight guidance.
Features:
  • Central column clamp - for two-handed routing; locks router at precise depth adjustment (simply twist to release)
  • Ergonomic handle - switch on, lower the tool, perform the routing task, and raise the tool again all with one hand
  • Detachable Plug-it power cord - use the same cord for different Festool tools; cord detaches for easy storage and replacement; convenient 13 foot length means no hang ups
  • Precise depth setting - it only takes a few seconds and minimal effort to adjust the routing depth accurate to 1/10mm, irrespective of the cutter being used
  • Integrated connector - connect to a Festool CT mobile dust extractor for a clean working environment
  • Chip catcher - this ensures efficient dust extraction and guarantees maximum suction power when routing edges
  • Support - this outrigger compensates for guide rail height, ensuring stable routing with all guide rail system
  • Angle arm - the arm runs along the profile of the original work piece and this profile is then transferred to the work piece being routed (available as an accessory)

Comments about OF 1010 EQ Plunge Router in T-Loc Systainer:

Small, but has plenty of power to take care of most routing needs. Use either the integrated dust collection port on the baseplate or add the auxiliary collector cup to catch chips created while edge routing that are more difficult for the baseplate alone to capture.

Plenty of depth for plunge routing and the control (although it takes some getting use to) is very comfortable and easy to operate. Variable speed is nice too for when you might feel as though you could burn your piece with a fast moving cutterhead. If I had a complaint it would be that this router does not accommodate 1/2" collets. I suppose that is to keep yayhoos from putting a panel raising bit in it or something, but it would be nice to use some of my existing bits that just happen to be 1/2". I'll tell you what, this router certainly has the power to every bit I have thrown at it.

Comments about OF 1010 EQ Plunge Router in T-Loc Systainer:

I've used this unit for a variety of chores, like dovetailing tofu presses, bee hive box joints and even for routing out windows in 1/2" plywood.

The OF 1010's lightweight, small build makes for smooth, easy to execute runs, setting it apart from other lightweight routers, like the Bosch Colt; the Festool is powerful enough for cutting plywood and gentle enough for woodworking with just enough weight for good handling.

This tool replaced my BOSCH 1617 - a good tool for sure - but it could not match the modest noise, smooth routing and easy handle of the OF 1010.

Comments about OF 1010 EQ Plunge Router in T-Loc Systainer:

Overall, this is a really great little router. Used in combination with the guide stop, guide rail, and a dust collector, it is fantastic for doing jobs where accuracy, repeatability, and a clean work environment are a must. I am also really impressed with the swiveling chip catcher, and its effectiveness when edge routing. Dust collection must be around 90% with this attachment, which is such a relief. In the past, edge routing projects meant a respirator, hearing projection, of course safety glasses, and about a half hour of clean up. Those days are over. All I require now are the safety glasses.

Perhaps because I am left handed, I find the bit changing routine extremely clumsy on this router, and far prefer the standard two wrench system on all other routers. If you're really torquing the bit down in the chuck, which you should for safety and accuracy, then I find it tough to apply enough pressure on the spindle lock button to keep the spindle from moving. I'm also never really sure what part of the router to grab onto during this routine.

If you use this router every day I'm sure you would get used to the plunge depth stop setting, but using it only once a week or so, I feel like I have to re-learn its operation every time. I find all of the moving parts confusing, and unnecessarily complex. The micro adjustment knob, when I do figure it out, is really great.

Once you've got a bit secured in the chuck, and the plunge depth setting is accurately set, this thing is such an unbelievable pleasure to use. The ergonomics, dust collection, and low decibels, when actually routing, blow out any other router I've used, which includes Milwaukee, Bosch, and DeWalt models.
