I didn't need a super expensive saw for the work I was doing around the house and this saw has done the trick.
Bought saw to cut paving stones. After changing blade and figuring out how to get a straight cut, saw worked and still works just fine. After a while tho this old man has to rest because it is a little heavy.
Lock for changing blade is nice too.
Saw is an excellent value for the price. It was shipped in the cheapest box imaginable with no packing. The shoe and guard wore through the bottom of the box in two places. Luckily it is the older model with nice solid aluminum shoe and the guard was only scratched.
Comments about Makita 5007F 7-1/4-in Circular Saw:
While I've always respected Makita tools, for years their ergonomics suffered. I decided to buy this saw based on price, (It's quite inexpensive for its quality), and I was pleasantly surprised that they've re-engineered the grip! Now it's not only high quality, it "feels" high quality. :)
This is a great saw. I've had mine for over ten years and it still works great. I just bought one for the habitat for humanity crew.
