The Dremel Company was founded back in 1932 by Albert J. Dremel in Racine, Wisconsin. Dremel’s first successful product, introduced in 1932, was an electric razor blade sharpener. Soon after, in 1935, came his greatest invention, a high-speed rotary tool called the Dremel Moto-Tool. A predecessor to today’s models, the Moto-Tool was advertised as the “The pocket-size machine shop,” and came with a variety of accessories. It was an instant hit with hobbyists and homeowners because of its light weight, compact size and versatility.

Albert Dremel was a passionate inventor and held a wide range of patents that included designs for products like an electric eraser, walk behind rotary lawn mower, electric shoe polisher, electric screwdriver, power sanders and scroll saws and even quirkier products like an electric fish scaler and a device that kept count of a chicken's egg production.

With more than 17 million rotary tools currently in use, it’s needless to say that consumers found many different ways to utilize the rotary tool and as a result, variations of the rotary tool range in everything from engraving to pet nail grooming and pumpkin carving.

Today the Dremel brand is the leading rotary tool. With more than 150 available bits and accessories, the Dremel rotary tool design is the most versatile tool a homeowner can own. Aside from rotary tools, Dremel also offers a variety of multi-tools, scroll saws, specialty tools and accessories.
