Great tool

By HarryB

from New York, NY

I bought this tool so that I could cut and polish some stones. Using the diamond edged cutting wheel I was able to slice through the stones easily and polishing was a breeze. Very powerful device and it was easy to set up the flex shaft. My one complaint is that dust has gotten into the on/off switch and now it's a little difficult to turn it on and off.

HIGHLY DEALED WORK

By DrBob

from Westchester County, NY, United States

Most of my work with my Dremels, ( I own a new 4000 unit and I have my old faithful 385 unit from 1980), are used to help me create museum models of old sailing ships. I find both tools and the accessories help me dress and shape the boxwood, mahogany and cypress woods that I use to create these plank-on-frame models. I make my own fittings and the Dremels help with the shaping of the soft brass, copper and white metal blanks that I employ. The adaptability of these tools and their attachments to accept all forms of burrs, grinders and sanders make some very detailed work a little easier. I use a variety of jewelers tools and other flexible shaft machines, but for the cost vs. capabilites ratio the Dremels come out way on top. I am glad that I discovered them so many years ago. They have helped me make this hobby of mine a lot of fun. So, here's a long belated thank you to the Dremel engineers and the rest of the company.

Very handy in the shop

By Tytram

from Biddeford, ME, United States

This was a gift to replace the older dremel I had for about 12 years, the variable speed pot is much more useful than the preset speeds on my old one. The amout of attachments that came with it has made it the goto tool in the workshop. Overall a great product with a solid reputation

The best ever

By Jonesy

from Southern New Jersey

I had an older Dremel for several years, and it finally wore out. I am not easy on my tools, sorry to say. My wife bought me the Dremel 4000 6/50 for father's day, and it was an incredible gift. The accessories are very well made, and the tool has more power than ever. I really have to load it down to make it work hard. I use it for furniture making, plumbing, electrical, and glass engraving with the extension shaft accessory. I am amazed by the versatility of this machine, and look forward to using it for many, many years.

new to me..

By guitars

from Williamsburg, VA, United States

Honestly I got this 4000 6/50 about a month ago and the project for has yet to be done. I have been side tracked with other projects, so I have not used it but once. I tried to sharpen a John Deere mower blades but the as always JD parts (on a real JD, not the ones bought at box stores but one bought at a JD dealership) are thicker and heavier built stuff from mowers to accessories to parts. So being the blades are thicker the blade sharpening guide attachment is to small to accept the thickness the thickness of those blades. However, removing the blade sharpener and using the bigger grinding disk..it works great. The items in the Dremel box are plenty and I can tell will have a lot of uses and I hope as time passes it will be used a lot. So the reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is only because I have not fully used it but it seems like it will be a great purchase with many uses for. I recommend this product...

Difference between Dremel 4000 and Dremel 4200

In addition to Ken's note about the amperage difference, there is a difference in how a bit is changed from the 4000 to the 4200. The 4000 still uses a wrench to loosen the bit and to secure it. The 4200 has a quick release method that is quick and easy to secure and unfasten the bits.
