Comments about 13 in. Two-Speed Thickness Planer:

all in all its not a bad planer. It does the job well. The final finish is really nice. The problem i have is its been in the shop twice for repair on the same thing. The carriage stops lowering. Seem the sprocket keeps breaking. Also, the dust port on the inside breaks. causing debris to pile up quickly on the inside. Need to blow it out almost every time. I dont use it a lot but, when I do, I need it to work properly and efficiently. Now, I find myself looking for an industrial planer. And really, all I really plane is the sawed edge. I dont do much surfacing. I guess fixing this thing twice for the same reason, not impressed or happy with dewalt. I had four tools broken down, a trim router, jig saw, rotary sander and this planer. Common denominator dewalt.

Comments about 13 in. Two-Speed Thickness Planer:

Item is >90lbs, but it is so compact and steady, I have no problems moving it.
        Nice, smooth planes.

The one thing I would caution people on is that it really does need a platform after the planer in order for the wood to rest on. At the end of the job, the weight of the wood will cause the end to dip a little. This causes what is still left in the planer to get slightly cupped.

Comments about 13 in. Two-Speed Thickness Planer:

My first planer so after some brief pratice boards I feel its rather easy to use. Of course read all instructions first at least 2 times. My only advise is if you do not have a dust collector, know that you WILL need one. A shop vac will not keep up. I read several reviews before buying this and so far is all that people wrote about it. Only con I saw was someone said it was heavy but I would rather have heavy so its more stable.

Dewalt does not rate this motor in horsepower, but in amps. This planer has a 15 amp motor.

              New Vs. Reconditioned

What's the difference between New and Factory-Reconditioned?

Factory-Reconditioned products have been returned to the manufacturer and are restored to like-new operating condition; they go through a rigorous testing and inspection process. Plus, they offer a significant savings vs. new.
              • Reconditioned products may have minor cosmetic blemishes or scratches that do not affect item performance.
              • Reconditioned products may not come with all of the consumables the new version comes with (bits, sanding pads/papers, cases, etc.).
              • Both come with a manufacturer warranty and are covered by our Money Back Guarantee; New is 30 days, Reconditioned is 60 days.
