Bought this initially to use pine boards as flooring.....wanted to avoid lengthy sanding after installation. Have also had great success planing boards down to consistent thickness for all sorts of projects. Had never used a planer before, was pleased with the ability to just plug it in and get to work! Very easy to reproduce thicknesses of boards. Had snipe on the trailing end of the initial 2 boards, otherwise none. This is opening my woodworking horizons to all kinds of new vistas! It does produce TONS of shavings (I've been informed that this is the nature of the beast) so you will want some sort of dust/shavings collection. It comes with an adapter that fit my shop vac, I just have to remember to empty it often, if I do, there are very few escapees.

I have planed over 1,000 feet of red oak,hickory, cherry, and pine. Haven't need to change the knives yet, most people complain about skype with this planner, to them i say don't take such a big bite. The only complaint i have is the dust chute. I never thought about it but You need to use Loc Tite on theses screws, I didnt and now i need to find ones to replace the missing ones

This Dewalt planer is a great addition to the home based shop. The price is right for the quality. The only con I have found is the adjustment for initial snipe. Other than that, the power, adjustments, and feed of the planer can pretty much tackle anything you can throw at it.

This is the first reconditioned planer I bought. The only problem is there is no owners manual. That would be helpful especially when it comes to changing the blades. The system for doing this is different from my older one. Can't understand why they can't drop an inexpensive manual in the box When packed.

I upgraded from an old 2-knife planer and this is a much, much better machine. Positive locking feature really does greatly reduce snipe. It would have been nice if the instructions had included directions for installing the dust port, but I was able to figure it out.
