first off on swicth went bad now variable speed is out have owned since 23 dec 2014 would like to use the saw but wish I had never seen it
I have always had a good opinion of Delta and this machine is as good as their reputation. Virtually no vibration and easily cut one inch material with out wandering off course.
I have been woodworking for years. Have done a lot of work on band saws and owned an fairly inexpensive scroll saw. Decided to step up after getting my wife's Xmas gift giving list.
Worked like a champ but delicate work was difficult without a light. Found a great, inexpensive one on Amazon. Now I am really set.
I use this for highly detailed carvings on antique, black forest clocks. The variable speed prevents damage to thin, brittle wood. The low vibration keeps from destroying hard to carve materials like bone. This is a great product from a reliable, well respected company.
great tool for crafts.

Q:will delta come out with a stand for the 40-694 saw because the stand for the dewalt 788 does not fit, it is 2 5/16 inches too short.
A:Delta does not have a stand currently for that unit. Please contact them directly at 800-368-1487 to see if they are coming out with a stand in the future.
A:I modified the Dewalt stand. What you need to do is cut out the top front area where the table base sits ,add a plate and drill two holes for the base. I welded the plate on the stand but you could bolt it or rivet it in place. They do need to offer stand. I love the saw .
Q:pin or plain blade
A:Use only 5" (127 mm) plain end scroll saw replacement blades.
Q:Hello, Is this saw have the no pin set up for blades, so I can run the spiral blades for cutting in any direction?
A:Blade information can be found in the manual on page 7. Here is a link to the manual:
