      Comments about 115V Stick Welder:

I started out on a stick welder over 40 years ago and needed a welder to modify a Harbor Freight trailer. I had no problems welding 1/8" steel channel and angle. I used 5/64" rods and could run a bead up to about 2" long with one rod. I made sure the ground clamp was on good bare steel and used a grinder to prep the weld and the grounding surfaces, too. I have solid 120+ volts at the welder plug. I only burn 2 rods at a time and let it cool down, so as not to damage the transformer. If you have never used a stick welder, this will be a hard one to learn on. Just when you have the arc going good, the rod will be half gone= too late to fix a bad puddle. However, compared to a entry level mig wire welder, this one won't break on you and you can see the weld easier= no nozzle end to block the view of the weld. Also, the stinger lead can go to any position= no wire sleeve to get kinked or jammed like the small mig welders.

Save your money and don't buy this piece of junk.
Extremely difficult to weld 1/8 steel. Get the rod too close and it sticks, to far and no arc. There seems to be no in between. Extremely difficult to create the right arc. I have had the rod as close as 1/8 inch and no arc ! The only way to create the arc is to touch the rod to the material and pull it away before it sticks and starts to melt the rod. If you are lucky, you may get a proper arc.

      Exceeded my expectations

      Comments about 115V Stick Welder:

I always come across projects that need a little welding as a contractor all beit tool repairs, equipment repairs or even in home/business repairs. I'm well versed in welding having been trained on mig, stick, and Tig. I admit after using some 115 V welders, I had low expectations for this welder. But for the price compared to renting welders. I expected it to blow circuits and did not expect much penetration. I expected to have to heat thicker steal to get good weld penetration. However I was beyond pleased when I gave this welder a try. The arc was not to hard to strike, It penetrated very well even on thicker gage material. And it the arc was nice and smooth.

Overall its a great welder for beginners and experts a like!
