There is deflection. Hard to level. Need to unscrew 4 screws every time you want to change out. Also, when raising the blade to cut the slot, go fast. If you go slow, it melts the plastic.

This a a very safe feature to have. It is worth its weight in gold. If you cut thin strips of wood like 1/8" this is a must have. It can prevent serious injury by preventing the thin wood from getting down below the blade and then getting kick out at 50 mph.. You do not want to get hit with that!!! Great investment!!!

Well, the insert was on sale so I bought it instead of making one. I see why it's on sale. It could have been made sturdier easily, but that would have cost about 29 cents more worth of plastic. Some things made in China are getting better, but not this! It does work, but small pieces could be cut wrong due to the flex of the part.

I wish this piece was built a little more sturdy. After cutting slot it becomes a little flimsy causing issues with adjustment.
