Comments about 5 in. 8-Hole Hard Backing Pad:

Love the sander its the best, but the backing pad is the worst, they don't last very long at all that is why I have to buy 10 at a time. My dewalt sander isn't so great but the backing pad has lasted for a couple of years. There isn't any other backing pad for this sander so I have purchase this product.

                Q:

How do the uses for hard versus soft backing pad differ?
Asked on 10/8/2012 by Steve from North Bend, OR

                • A:

Use a hard pad for when you want to remove more material, and a soft pad when you have an uneven surface or natural edge.

                  A:

A hard pad is used for clean crisp straight edges. A soft pad is good when there is some contour being sanded or for a softer eased edge.
