I just got a Daredevil drill bit set from Home Depot. On the label Bosch has hammer mode, impact mode and rotary mode. I guess the rotary mode is just drilling. But I have a problem with hammer mode versus impact mode. What is the difference? My drill has a drilling mode and a hammer mode which incorporates drilling action with an hammering action. I have an impact driver that accepts 1/4 inch hex bits. Is that the difference between hammer mode and impact mode?

Rotary Hammers have 3-modes: Rotary Mode Only, Rotary Hammer Mode, & Hammer Only Mode.

Rotary Mode = Drill only mode. Rotary Hammer Mode = the chuck rotates and hammers at the same time. Hammer Mode = The chuck moves back & forth only.

I use these bits with a Bosch bulldog rotary hammer. It has a hammer only
position also. This position is for use with chisels and scrapers, not
with drills. The combination and drill only settings are for drilling,
using the bits you have or other bits. I hope this answers your questions.

Not sure if this will helps you but I think impact and hammer do the same. All the older models had the options of drill or hammer. Now they add the impact option. If your going to use the SDS bits just use the hammer option.

Don't know. I bought them for a Bosch hammer drill. However, I understand
      that they fit Milwaukee tool.

Yes. Makita drill HR2811 is an SDS Plus rotary hammer. Any SDS Plus bit will work in this hammer

I purchased a model# BSHN 11247 and 3 bits as well as a 7 pc. drill kit….Today I was set to use this tool for the first time; lo & behold, the drill & the bits are not compatible….I would like to return the bits (which are unused) in exchange for the same ones which are compatible with the rotohammer I purchased…can this be accomplished? Also, I don't think much of your helpline (866 308 4276). After being told how great you are (about 6 times) and assuring me the next available representative "WOULD BE WITH ME SHORTLY", I was put on hold for 16 min. at which time the call was terminated…what's up with that?
