I was looking for a better stud finder and I got this Bosch thinking it will help me find the studs and pipes in my bathroom in order to instal a heavy mirror. Every scan gives me a different result. I was expecting more.

It does what they say it will do. However, it is a sensitive detector and you need to learn to use it. For example, when you have water pipes, electrical wires, and wall studs in close proximity, you may have to change the mode setting to distinguish the differences in materials and their location. Power consumption does increase significantly with use of the back lighting, but this is probably to be expected with most any design. Since it worked for me, I recommend this tool and believe it to be a good value.

I found it very easy to use, and extremely accurate for stud locating and electrical wires, locating not only the edges, but the center of the studding. I think the secret is to move the unit slowly.The yellow light comes on when you are close to an edge and red at the edge. Then the LED screen fine tunes the location.

Haven't used it for a project yet, but did test it to determine it's ease of use and accuracy in locating studs and electrical wires. Determining electrical wires is a bit "questionable" at times.
