Feel it, to believe it...
I bought the Bosch Glide Miter Saw at a recent Woodworking Show in Minneapolis. It is rock solid - no play in the arm at all. I have never felt a slide miter saw like this. There is literally no resistance when moving the head back and forth and it cuts like butter. All I can say is Wow! It is definitely something you need to feel for yourself.

My buddy came over and we tried a few cuts on 10" oak and 8" maple boards. With a 90 tooth blade, it was smooth as can be and accurate, both at 45 and 0. The tool cuts up to 13.5" at 0.

We are looking at re-laying out my shop a bit, b/c there are no rails behind the head like a standard slide miter. Bosch says 12" of space savings. I think it might be even more savings with my old Makita that I still have. I would say the whole rig will fit on a 25" table top, no problem.

I have heard others say that the tool is big. I wouldn't call it overly huge for a tool that cuts almost 14" across and it has built-in material supports. Picking it up wasn't bad when you fold everything in and lock it down. I would think that any of those mobile stands would handle it just fine. No issues getting through my side door to the shop.

Love the bevel controls up front, too. Like icing on the cake, really, b/c it is another reason I don't have to reach behind the tool and it can work right up against the wall.

Great power, ok blade ships with it - my Freud blade worked great.

Great Saw
I have owned this saw since it came out and its a great saw. I replaced my Bosch 5412 slider with it. It is true what they say about how it glides and is effortless. Everything Bosch says about this saw is true except for the fact that it only cuts 6 1/2" against the fence to the LEFT of the blade...which I wish was not the case. You can't make 45 degree miters to the right on boards that tall.

The 2 star comment below calling the Bevel lock junk is just not so. Neither of my Bosch sliders have ever had the problem. It tells you how to adjust the bevel lock in the manual. I find my locks in rock solid every time gives me dead straight 45" bevel cuts over a 14" cross cut.

I spent some time with a square when I got the saw fine tuning it just ever so slightly. It came decently aligned out of the box...but I double checked everything.

No Shafts
This is a well designed saw that is a delight to use. Add the laser washer to make lining up cuts a breeze. Changing blades is straightforward. Controls are at the front of the saw so there is no reaching over the machine when it is time to set/change a mitre or bevel. Initial set up simply involved checking the bevel and mitre angles. They were factory adjusted and right on. Both can be adjusted if necessary. This is a very stable platform with table extensions that are helpful for longer pieces. The axial glide system is self contained and appears robust. There is no slop in the joints and they do not require maintenance. The motor has sufficient torque to maintain blade speed even through big inch material. Combined with the action of the axial glide system, making the cut you want is almost effortless. Details like a safety trigger that does not operate with German precision, cheap feeling (and appearing) kerf inserts, finish details (bolt finishes that are already wearing off and imprecise matings of plastic parts, inconsistent casting finish) speak against a 5 star rating. The saw can be placed close to a wall. Get the wheeled mitre stand is you must move the saw from location to location on the job. Built in handles for moving are convenient but the saw is heavy and bulky. The first saw I received appeared to have been dropped during shipment (one of the plastic straps on the exterior shipping box was missing and the corrugated was collapsed on that end of the box. The saw cast aluminum base was fractured. CPO responded quickly by sending a pick up order for the old saw and shipping me a replacement saw which arrived in perfect condition.

A very professional saw
Everything is adjustable. It's great to have these features, but a little time-consuming at set-up. The slide out operation is very smooth. The entire saw is very professional.

Only Saw to own
The saw requires skill to use as it is perfectly balanced and slides like a dream. It is powerful and handles most materials without flaw. It will jump forward if your not using it correctly. I love the saw and will not own any other type from now on. Fits through doorways nicely, is perfectly balanced, tough, and strong.

Love this saw
Love Bosch products. Looked at this saw for a long time before buying. What sold me was the glide. It is smooth and solid. I built an additional saw dust collection shroud around the back side. The glide mechanism meant I could have a smaller shroud and allowed me to place the unit closer to the wall. The features that really sold me were the control locations and the table extensions. You don't have to reach behind (remember the shroud I wrote about) to tilt or bevel everything is right there; accessible from the front. The table extensions give you an adjustable support area close to the basic table. All slide and fence releases are quick release tabs (not thumb screws). I've had several brand saws and worked them hard. But the Bosch outshines them - wish I hadn't taken so long to convert.

Worth the money and wait!
I was hesitant to buy a tool this expensive online but after dealing with CPO I will continue to buy from then. The first saw I received had a 1/32" step in the deck and they returned the saw no questions asked and paid for the shipping. The second saw is everything I planned to have in a tool of this price. The blade is accurate and stays is the position you set it within 1/10 of a degree when doing bevel cuts. The only thing this saw doesn't have is a laser and that's the only reason I gave it 4 stars.

Big Bang for the Bucks!
I build cabinets and this saw has definitely become a wood-shop necessity. Table saws are great, but this saw picks up where my large table leaves off. Overall, am very happy with the saw. Only minor drawback is adjusting mitre cut angle -- it is very stiff. Maybe this is intended, but hope it gets less stiff over time and use. The saw is perfectly balanced and is very smooth to use. It makes very clean, exact cuts. The unique glide arm is worth every extra penny it cost -- both in balance/ease of use, and the workbench space savings. Highly recommend this saw, it's certainly well worth the investment.

Best Sliding Compond Miter Saw
I love this saw esp the sliding system that makes it possible to put it right up against a wall. This makes the cuts very precise. I wish the motor was a direct drive so you won't have to replace the drive belt eventually. I also love the fact that you don't have to reach in the back of the saw to change the angle. It also came with a free blade.

What was the primary issue on the reconditioned versions of the Bosch 12 inch glide miter saws?
Jose on Jun 7, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Sorry I have no idea nor knowledge about any Bosch reconditioned miter saw. I brought a 12" Axial Dual Bevel Glide GCM12SD, that was new. I love the saw, but it is very heavy, so one does need the folding stand to move the saw around. Issues w/ this saw so far, I have none. From what I understand tho, a reconditioned saw is a little cheaper, but still is considered a new saw w/ the full warranty.
Where is this saw made? And what about the Bosch gravity-rise stand--where is it made? Thanks

Does this saw have an " adjustable stop mechanism" for notching wood instead of cutting all the way thru it? For example if a person wanted to notch out a 4x4 post to fit a 2x4. Thanks!
Woodman John on Mar 2, 2015
BEST ANSWER: There is a depth stop plate and screw that will allow you to adjust the depth of cut of the miter saw blade. If you look in the provided manual, the numbers are 32 and 33:

New Vs. Reconditioned

What's the difference between New and Factory-Reconditioned?

Factory-Reconditioned products have been returned to the manufacturer and are restored to like-new operating condition; they go through a rigorous testing and inspection process. Plus, they offer a significant savings vs. new.
  • Reconditioned products may have minor cosmetic blemishes or scratches that do not affect item performance.
  • Reconditioned products may not come with all of the consumables the new version comes with (bits, sanding pads/papers, cases, etc.).
  • Both come with a manufacturer warranty and are covered by our Money Back Guarantee; New is 30 days, Reconditioned is 60 days.
